was LUCY #500? :cool1:
another beautiful day in PA - won't last till the weekend, though.
I want it to be May so those people will be on the ship, thru the
Panama Canal, writing to us, telling us everything going on!

Haven't seenTide washing powder for some time here but we do get washing powder tablets in most brands here. Don't you?

Believe it or not, we are no longer able to get them - they were so
convenient for travelling. I know I'll be doing laundry on the ship, but
carry my own soap powder - but it always "looks suspicious", like I'm
carrying something I shouldn't be carrying. The tablets were great.

Hey, Lynn, how about a few scones? (although the scones in Palo are
wonderful!). :rolleyes1

Have any of you noticed, the discussion always comes down to food with Lucy!

Lucy
It really made me laugh when I was in The States last summer how many things you have in your stores that we don't and vice versa, I always expect our cultures to be more similiar than they actually are. I filled my bags with Nillas, Zip loc bags and a wiper for my shower amongst other stuff. My US friends want me to bring them mosquito bite zappers, Roses chocolates, tea and xmas pud! Now I will add washing tablets and scones to my list. Customs won't permit me to bring in fresh, but I might be able to find you a scone mix :rotfl:

I have just found bug zappers in the US - they are so much fun!
(believe me, it doesn't take much for Lucy to have fun!).
Scones - I just love them - never been to the UK - but I know I would
eat them daily. Actually, like I said before, Palo has great scones at
brunch....when we had brunch several years ago on the Magic, that is
all I ate (well, maybe not ALL I ate). I actually asked our server if
I HAD to order an entree - just bring me the plates of scones, jam and
cream! :rotfl:
I'll bring you some Pennsylvania Dutch pretzels! (those are individually
wrapped). My favorite Pa. Dutch food is shoo-fly pie! (no, you don't need
a "zapper" when you eat it!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

O.k. I just had this idea!!! (BTW Lucy.......I don't eat to live, I live to eat!! :rolleyes1 ). Anyway, I thought it would be fun to start our cruise with a little meet and everyone bring something "native" to our area of the world!!!!! Obviously, it has to be something that would travel well, but we could really introduce each other to not only us, but where we are from!!!!

We could each bring something and then maybe have a little drawing. Kinda like a white elephant thing........ What do you all think??? That way we would all leave with a little something!!!! Just a thought!

Happy Belated Alice :bday: :cake: :bday: :cake: :bday: :cake:

After this week, I am ready for the cuise! It appears everything in my house is breaking down! You know "when it rains, it pours"!!!!! :guilty: What beautiful weather we are having! I have enjoyed getting out and having fresh air to breathe!!!!

Lucy I so miss the tablets as well. I think I am going to contact Procter and Gambil about the Tide tablets. I loved those things!!! I too would use them when we traveled, as they are so convenient! :smooth:

JoAnn ~ What is the countdown for school? Are you as ready as I am? We ought to have our classes be penpals next year since we both teach 4th grade! :teacher:

Jenny-I love that idea and I already know what I would bring from CA. I think we should set a price limit or a weight limit so that someone doesn't end up with 2 lbs of something and someone else has only 6 ounces (not that would happen, but that way we're all on the same page). So, can you PA people bring along a Philly's Steak sandwich? Hmmmm, that doesn't travel well I guess :sad2: .

I find it so strange that they'd have the tide tablets in europe and not here. I guess that means that people must buy it there and not here. Or maybe it has to do with the machines? Anyway, at Target in the travel sized section for .99 I found a small bottle (good for 4 washes) of Tide with a screw top lid and a cup dispenser that snaps on the lid. It kinda looks like a mini Tide bottle. I also saw the same thing yesterday at Big Lots. The other thing I bought at Target was a small round white board with a detachable dry erase pen and the board had magnets on the back. It was $2.99 and I got it because we're traveling with three other families and I thought it would be a good way for us to leave messages as to where we are (i.e. at the pool, etc.) so we can stay in touch with each other.

Ok, I like the food bringing idea, I'll have to think of something good (no steak sandwiches!! )

I have decided to book excursions thru DCL because I can't come up with anything better on my own. I'm going to book next week!! I'm having the family make their first three selections and then we'll decide!

Jenny, good idea about the penpals! My last day is June 15th so it's coming up in less than 2 months. In that time, I will have a Senior Prom, graduation, 15YO birthday and soon after, a bridal shower. It should be an interesting couple of months (time will surely fly by.)

what is Lisa bringing - an earthquake or a tsunami?! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

JoAnn - is that a bridal shower for one of your girls?

This morning I'm not in a good mood - my 13 yr. old is really getting to
me (I know, I know, it is usually the 19 yr. old) - he doesn't care about
school anymore....to all you teachers, is this normal?
Doesn't get his act together with projects and homework - had to run
back to the school this morning because of something he forgot (thank goodness we live in the same town as the school and I work in the same
town). Every night we are tearing his hair out to get his work done.
I can't wait for 'it' to be over.

Isn't that crazy about the laundry tablets - my friend DID call Proctor & Gamble and they said they no longer supply them in the US.

Let's ask "goudoux" to bring dry weather and sunshine from Arizona!

Bill? Well, he is bringing us ALL a present by bringing that thong along. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was thinking, it wouldn't have to necessarily be food, but maybe we could do this...

Put your item(s) in a gift bag. I could come up with a size (I would probably have the average size gift bag....little bigger than a brown paper lunch sack). You could put ANYTHING in it that represents your state/area. It could be food or "item(s)". Then when we exchange, you wouldn't know what was in it until you opened it? It would work well with one bag each so that no matter how many participate, everyone would leave with a bag. I agree with you Lisa because I get really excited and might "overdo" it a little. We don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable.

Any takers on the "game"? :wave2:

as long as Lisa doesn't bring those previously mentioned items (earthquake, etc.)
We are all meeting the first evening, correct?

Okay, okay, I'll leave the tsunami and earthquakes at home! Shoot!

I'm game too! Sounds like a fun little exchange. I already know what I'll be getting.

I want Lisa's exchange - just think, something from Rodeo Drive! :rolleyes1

Sounds like fun - I read on another thread, in fact there is a thread
on the DIS cruise board that people are starting to get their
documents, that the children are going to bring postcards to exchange
with each other - NO, my 19 yr. old is NOT going to want to exchange
postcards....but maybe this is an idea for the smaller children on our
thread. :grouphug:

So who wants my bag laundry tablets anyone! :rotfl:

We'd love to do the bag thing, it's a good idea to have one bag each so everyone gets something.
Our last cruise was at Xmas so I bought a little English pressie for everyone on our thread I got a real kick out of that. One of the other ladies was a musician and she made xmas CDs for us all. It was such a lovely surprise. We can't do anything too big cos we have a weight limit flying internationally and we are away for 3 weeks and trying to keep luggage down. But hey that's okay cos once we've given our bag I'll have more room for all my purchases on second thoughts make the limit big really BIG :cheer2:

I'm still none the wiser about Shoo Fly Pie!!
Anyone care to enlighten me?

Shoo Fly Pie is a pie that the Pennsylvania Dutch or the Amish people are known for. They live in Lancaster, PA and other areas of eastern US. They are originally from Europe and they settled here for religious reasons. They make all their own food and they do not use electricitiy. Shoo Fly is a corn syrup and I think a few nuts made into a pie and it's delicious! Lucy help me out here! I think that's a good description.

The bag idea is great....PLEASE remind me once school lets out and I will work on it then.

NO, the bridal shower is for my niece. YIKES! I'm not ready for that yet!

Lucy, about your 13 YO son....yes, the kids are out of focus. My 4th graders are really losing it. I think it's the beautiful weather, I think they are in summer mode. Two of my students wore sunglasses to school (boys!) I had to tell them to put them in their bookbags.

Excursions....we are looking at the canopy excursion in PV; maybe horseback riding (In Mazatlan) and then a beach trip in Cabo. What's everyone else planning??? :hourglass
