I'm just curious what your measured mileage was.

I actually wore TWO (one for pace, one for intervals): an Edge 305 & a Forerunner 205.

After I downloaded them into my computer and corrected for tracking errors, they both came out at about 26.75 miles!

I am wondering if that's what everyone else came up with or if I just zig-zag waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

TIA!

zigzagging to get around the crowds can do that. Also, the course is measured by using the tangents....so the measured course would always follow the inner curve going around curves and corners...you could have been on the outer curves.

It can add up! Run the tangents! :goodvibes

For the 5K on Friday my Garmi had 3.06 miles. I had 13.22 miles for the Half marathon. But I know that is from zig-zagging, but I do try to stay on the inner curve.

I was around 26.4 or 26.45 overall. It didn't differ that much from mile to mile from what I could tell.

I think mine was around .3 or so over for the half and .5 or so for the full.

It is disappointing to look down and see you are through then look up and see the 26 mile maker.

Someone forgot to double check that their Garmin was charged and when they turned it on on race day, it went dead... :headache: :rolleyes1 (It was charged before I left home, I swear, I think it must have gotten turned on during the travel process...)

I have had this happen twice before and I think it is due to a button being pushed when it is packed. Since I started making sure nothing could hit a button, I haven't had a problem with the battery dying.

Ya, I had it happen to me, too once when traveling.

Can it be hooked up to any computer to charge or does the program have to be on the computer?

Friday 5k - 3.12
Saturday Half - 13.46
Sunday Full - 26.66

I didn't think I zigzagged that much.

It's a combination of weaving, inability to perfectly hit the tangents, GPS inaccuracy, and the short-course-avoidance factor. (For the latter - a marathon is not 42k - it's .1% longer, so you have at least another 42 meters to run, even if you can perfectly run the measured tangent.)

I didn't run it this year, but my 305 recorded something like 26.65 last year.

I ran the half and made the mistake of turning it off for a bathroom break :confused3 and forgot to turn it back on right away. Mine was .4 under most of the way. But my neighbor ran the full and ended up with 27 miles on her 305.

I ran the Half with a Garmin 405 and got 13.3 miles. And I did a ton of zig zagging.

It can be hooked up to any computer to charge. The computer may try to install drivers since it sees it as a USB device but it will charge regardless.
