Hey Disney - Bring back park souvenir package pickup to the resorts

I loved the service when you would return to your room and the packages would be sitting on your bed. Then they moved it to the next day (or two don't remember) at the gift shop, which was better than nothing. I think I might have even done the pick up at the front of the park thing but if I recall there was a time frame for that and it wasn't really convenient unless you were spending all day in the park. Now, if I see something I want, I pick it up either when I'm leaving the park or try to remember it for my last day, which tends to be a shopping around the parks day.
Last year I was in MK as they were restocking the elusive starbucks you are here mugs. I had to grab one for me, one for my friend, and one for my mom. I had to buy it that moment because it sold out 10 mins later. And then I'm stuck carrying around 3 mugs on a Magic Kingdom day. It was the moment where I was like oooooooh ya I miss the service.

I miss the service, too. I had a situation similar to yours, I ended up renting a locker so I didn’t have to carry my purchases around all day. Not the best solution since package delivery used to be free and I paid for the locker, but it was better than lugging the bag around the park for 10 hours.

It really is a pain in the rear, that's for sure. I think had I been in that situation and worried they would sell out, I would have gotten them as well. However, I would have probably just left the park and taken them back to my resort. I'm lucky because I always either have a park hopper or an AP and I always stay on site so running back to the resort really isn't that much of a big deal. I'm also lucky that I go often enough, at least once a year, so I really don't worry about missing out on rides. I know not everyone can do that and, like everyone else, really do wish they would bring the service back.

I didn't realize this was not back at the world. My last trip to Disneyland we used this service and I thought it was back at the world too. Thank you for pointing it out.

It was not worth it to go back to the resort and waste all the time and energy. I was at Epcot and staying at the WL. I preferred to pay the $10 or whatever it was for the locker. If I had gone back to the room, I probably would have taken a nap! I’d be happy if they would at least hold packages at the front of the park or a designated location.

Has anyone tried using the lockers to store large items for the day? How feasible is that? I know you'd have to back-track to the front of the park to stow purchases, but that beats carrying them around, no?

I’ve done it, if it’s something really large, it may not fit. But most stuff does. If you buy a lot, you may need 2 lockers. It beats carrying around stuff and the possibility of leaving it somewhere by accident (ask me how I know…).

I remember the good ole days when the packages would be delivered to your room. Bring that back,

And get off my lawn....grrrr
I accidentally had a package delivered to my room last year when I left a purchase behind at Gasparilla Grill. I used the lost item feature in the app, and later that day I got a text from a CM saying they found it, and it was waiting in our room :)

I really miss this service too. I guess though, it is saving us quite a bit of money because we sure don't buy much anymore since we would have to carry it around.

We picked up a 50th anniversary castle playset last year (clearance price plus DVC discount made it irresistable) at the shop near the front of DHS. I didn't want to lug it around the park all day and asked the cashier about the possibility of having it held there for us.

She told us to check at the locker/stroller rental across the street. Even though it was way too large for a locker, they offered a "virtual" locker for $10. We got a claim check and they stored it in the back until we came back for it at the end of the day.

Not as good as free front of park pick-up. But it was better than dragging it around all day and having to ride rides in shifts.

I don't know if other parks offer a similar service (or even if DHS still offers it anymore).

Some of the Club Levels still delivered the packages to your room as a perk of staying CL. But even that is obviously now dead.

Depends on how long you plan to be in the park. If you take a midday break the backtracking time would not be worth it but if you’re an open to close sort of person it might be if you’ve got party members happy to get the extra steps in.

They held a bag for free for me once at DHS. We'd been to Trader Sam's and bought A LOT of mugs, hauled them all through Epcot for dinner and Illuminations, then went to DHS to watch the Star Wars fireworks. At the gate at DHS they told me to go over to the right immediately when you get in the park to check my bags and pick them up on the way out. Maybe they didn't charge because it was already so late in the night? It was after 10pm at that point.

Shipping to Canada is expensive and just not worth it. I used to do lots of impulsive purchasing in the parks with resort delivery. If I saw it and liked it, I'd just purchase and ship it to the resort. That won't be the case in the future. If I like it, I'll try to remember where I saw it and make time to pass by on my way out if I remember that I even wanted it by the time I'm ready to leave and if it's on my way. Likely I'll not end up buying much. I'd even be prepared to pay a few dollars to have it shipped to my resort. For me, it was one of the biggest perks about being on property.
OT :offtopic: I love your avatar picture :cat: Okay, carry on :upsidedow
