Have you tried the 0-point soup? My dh has cooked that up for me, using no-fat beef broth instead of veggie broth. He is cooking it up for me tomorow because I am starting WW again and this soup is a great filler. I can eat it as a meal and then have some extra points to play with for snacktime or vise-versa. It makes a big pot and I am the only one in my house that eats it and so by the time it is gone, I have had enough for a while. Great for you and great way to start the plan!
:D

Yes, I have made it several times. DH enjoys it but the kids won't touch it. The nice thing like you mentioned is it is a great filler to have around especially if you want to have a really good dinner.

I tried this soup when I first started the diet (the first time) and I didn't like it. Now that I am eating healthy, and absolutely love veggies and soup, I am going to have to try it again. I bet you I would love it. Maybe I could even get my family to eat it. That might be a great weekend family lunch if we were going to a high points dinner. It would allow me more points.

Thanks for reminding me about the soup. I will have to try it again. It's great too, because you could put any kind of veggie you like in it. I wonder if it would taste good with Portobello mushrooms. That might give it a meaty taste. I really love Portobello's.

Thanks,

They don't carry it over here, so I haven't had the chance to try it. But it does sound like a great filler.

LOVE THAT SOUP!!!

My DH eats it too - i have gotten to where i really don't use a recipe, just dump seasoned stewed tomatoes, green and yellow beans and preshredded cabbage into a crock and make 4 or so cups for sodium-free broth.

Portebellos sounds like a good addition!

I make a crock and use it all week. Great way to stretch those pts. I sometimes have 5 whole-wheat saltines for only 1 pts with my soup :)

I do think there is an official recipe on the WW healthy eating thread ??

Can someone point me in the right direction to the recipe? :teeth:

Can you use chicken broth/stock instead of veggie broth or would that make it have a point value? Thanks.

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients

2 medium garlic clove(s), minced
1 medium onion(s), diced
2 medium carrot(s), diced
1 medium sweet red pepper(s), diced
1 medium stalk celery, diced
2 small zucchini, diced
2 cup green cabbage, shredded
2 cup Swiss chard, chopped
2 cup cauliflower, small florets
2 cup broccoli, small florets
2 tsp thyme, fresh, chopped
6 cup vegetable broth
2 Tbsp parsley, or chives, fresh, chopped
1/2 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, optional

Instructions

Put garlic, vegetables, thyme and broth into a large soup pot. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes.

Stir in parsley or chives; season to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice. Yields about 1 cup per serving.

Enjoy!

This is a great soup! I have it sometimes when I feel like a snack. To save some time, instead of shredding cabbage, I pick up one of those pre-made salad bags for coleslaw. All of my local grocery stores sell them in the produce section. :) It's great especially if you're trying to make the soup in a rush!

To reply to the question about adding chicken broth... I add beef broth which adds a total of about 3.5 pts to the entire giant pot of soup. I think the chicken is similar. Try it.

Hi all you WW kids! I'm a low-carber and got a great cookbook for Christmas and have already tried two soups since then. Soup is a great way to get lots of nutrition without a lot of calories or fat. Just a reminder to look for low salt broths....that really helps too!

Hmmmmmm, this is making me hungry, I'm going to go have some turkey vegtable soup now!
