Hey all you camera experts.....help!

A true digital dummy here. I have been reading and reading reviews, and quite honestly, they seem to be written in a foreign language. Here is my deal. I want to invest in a camera that takes good enough pictures to scrapbook, in the $300 - $400 range. I was thinking of a Panasonic Lumix® DMC-FZ20 Digital Camera, but they are all beginning to look the same. I posted on the camera board, but not a lot of action there, so I thought I would give the CB a shot. Always tons of action here!

The FZ20 is a great little camera - you can't go wrong if you get it. But keep in mind that there are a ton of great cameras out there these days. If you wanted to go cheaper, you could probably meet all your needs for $200-250. All the major brands make pretty good cameras. One might be a bit better than the other, but the differences are small.

If you don't want to worry about it, don't. Just pick your budget, stick to the major brands, and then go down to the local BestBuy (or whatever) and see which one feels best in your hands, which one you like the controls for, or even just which one looks the best. If you've already done that and like the FZ20, buy it.

Have you looked at the Canon S2IS or S3IS?

Give the photography board time and do a search over there. A zillion people have asked 'which camera should I buy' type questions and they have a lot of information.

You think digital cameras are complicated to purchase? Just wait until you have to buy a digital television! I feel like the purchase should come with a certificate of completion!

I can't help it: I like Canon. I would agree with RadioNate that the S21S could probably satisfy your needs quite well.
