I'm looking for information on what's available at this Hess and approximate prices. Will we save a decent amount of money vs. just shopping at Screen Door and/or have better selection? We have a studio, so we will have a fridge and microwave and I'd like to pick up some breakfast and lunch items (eggs, milk, lunchmeat, etc.)

Also are there any take-out type options? Our first day is at AK so I was thinking of swinging over to Hess when we get back and if they had any dinner options (I.e. pizza, subs, etc.) I could just bring something back to eat before we head down to the pool.

Thanks for any insights!

good question,I'm curious too! I heard this is walkable if you don't have a car?

From Mousesavers.com:
Disney has several on-property Hess stations, including one right across the street from Downtown Disney and one across the street from Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. Many MouseSavers.com readers have written me to say that the Hess stations have reasonable prices on soft drinks, beer and bottled water. They also carry a variety of pre-made food items, including pizzas and subs. If that’s all you need, you might just want to grab your items at Hess and skip the supermarket. If you need any other groceries, Hess isn’t a great bet: readers report that selection is very limited and some prices (i.e., for a half-gallon of milk) were actually higher than the prices in the Disney hotel shops.

I don't think that I would plan on doing most of my grocery shopping there but if you want just want to get some quick-to-heat food, this might be a decent alternative. People mostly use them to purchase beer, water and Pepsi products (which you cannot get on Disney property).

Of the three Hess stations on property the one across from the Boardwalk is the smallest VERY limited in what they carry The next best one is opposite the Marketplace at DTD somewhat larger and a bit more selections The largest is near the MK park exit at the Car Care Center, which will be difficult to get to unless you have a car Here they have fresh made to order subs, pizzas, etc and pre-made selections If you have a vehicle the best option would be to go off property to a real supermarket

As far as prices I would guess comparable to any truck stop or 7-11 type of store not the best ( although
usually the gas per gallon is cheaper than off property )

I 2nd the above...the Hess next to Boardwalk/across from DHS is the smallest and severly lacks in many if the things the OP is asking for...sometimes we'll stop in hoping for a hot dog or something and they won't even have that...the one at the exit of MK is best for a "gas station lunch"...unless you are stuck using a bus, i would skip Hess for supplies and head off property

Its also a little bit of a hike if you are going to be carrying a case of beer. Doable, but I'm not sure I'd do it in heat.

Other people have said the roll a suitcase down to the HEss station and bring it back filled with water, beer, and snacks. By the one by the Boardwalk is the skimpiest in selections.

my husband has taken a bus to downtown Disney and then got on another bus anywhere. It stops at the pleasure island side and he walks over to the Hess across the street and then gets back on a bus back to whatever resort we are staying at. Its a bit of work but he felt it was worth the time and money

Been there. Done that....along with a 12 pack of beer. It was brutal...case of water on my shoulder and the 12 pack in my hand...next time, I'll take another set of hands withe me. The savings is definitely there, but need a couple people.

Buses from resorts go to DTD and then to the Pleasure Island stop-there should not be a reason to change buses at DTD. Buses then go from Pleasure Island to TL (during park hours) and then back to the resort(s).

We're stuck with the bus, and I appreciate the insights! Sounds like I will likely stick to the BW store as well as packing in the non-perishables, but i may still pop over there for waters, beer for DH, etc. I don't think we are looking for enough stuff to justify grocery delivery, so trying to understand my options :thumbsup2

Thanks all for sharing!

The milk prices are good, as well as bread and 2l bottles of soda. Do not remember if they have eggs. They do have a small grocery selection, like cup of noodles, nuts, chips, etc. It is worth walking over from boardwalk before you go to the screen door. They usually have something hot like breakfast sandwiches or personal pizzas. I think that their prices are ok.

I stop in all the time to get good at the one by DTD. Good selection and the pizzas good.
