We bought BLT about 3 weeks ago at $120 a point. I see on some of these threads that its discounted to $114/$112 a point. I'm wondering if I didn't get the best deal I could have since we didn't really question or hesitate buying.

Just curious if you do hesitate or walk away to think about it, do you get better deals/incentives???? I would think they would offer the same deals to everyone but it seems people get all kinds of different perks.

DVC doesn't negotiate the price. They typically offer the same base incentives to everyone. You can get special deals at certain events / locations / and web casts.

That said, you paid full price for BLT. How many points did you buy?

If you have not yet closed (or mailed back closing documents) I would be on the phone with your guide asking if there are any incentives out there for sure.

Did you get the free cruise- if so you can't get any money off?

We bought 250 pts at BLT for $120 a point. We did get a matching down deposit and 2009 points.

So I thought that was pretty great. But seeing some people paying less for points made me wonder if I didn't get the best deal.

And we didn't get the free cruise or the free airline tickets from Visa Rewards because we were told it was only 1 incentive or the other and the one we received was better.

Does "matching down deposit" mean what I think it means? If so, then you effectively paid 108 per point, which is a 'normal' price.

I'm assuming that:
(1) you paid a 10% deposit (12 per point) and
(2) Disney matched your deposit (12 per point).

If so, then you are paying 108 per point.

Yes they matched our 10% down deposit.
So if they don't match the deposit for everyone I guess it all works out to be the same just in different forms.

There is so much to learn about DVC and we are getting ready to book our first stay next week at our 11 month window....is overwhelming to me. :)

I think there are just some offers that work better for others. When we hessitated about having the funds avaliable for a larger contract we were given the option to buy a smaller contract, with no closing costs and 2009 points. I guess if I were more informed I would have known those things were avaliable but I was not so I was at the mercy of my guide. I would not even call it hessitation we explained to our guide our exact situation and what we wanted to use DVC for and he offered a more attractive deal for us that met our needs.

If you got your points for $108/point (using the above formula), I'd say you did better than average. Great job and welcome home, "neighbor." :goodvibes

That is great to hear! I can't figure out all the details and incentives. At the time I thought it was a good deal, then when you read all these threads I started to wonder. I'm glad we did well then! :)

I someone gets a lower price point, it is basically the same mechanics as your matching down payment. Many contracts are being written for $112/point, so you did well.

As for being overwhelmed, you have come to the right place! :disrocks:

All questions will be answered with fact or speculation (if required, we know Disney Bus drivers :thumbsup2).
