Has anyone rented Hertz out of MCO before? I believe they are offsite. How quick is their shuttle service?

How about when I return the car. How long will it take me to check it in and get to Departures?

No problems. There are continuous shuttles and it is a very short trip to the pickup location.

I use Hertz a lot.

Service in Orlando is great. The shuttles run ALL the time. I don't think I have EVER gone downstairs and not had one there.

As for returns I tend to get to Hertz about 75 minutes before my flight. That said I NEVER get to any airport until 60 minutes or less on my flight so your experience may vary!

Check in is fast. They do it at the car and there are normally buses running. I think they run every 5 minutes back to the airport.

Hertz is really cool. They have nice cars. Go 4 it!::MickeyMo

We have used Hertz many times at MCO. The shuttle is always waiting when you walk outside. It is a quick drive to the offsite lot and you are driving away in 10 mins.

When you are going to return the car do curbside check in with your luggage and you won't have to lug it on the shuttle.

If you are a member of AAA they offer great discounts and there are deals for free tanks of gas, upgrades, etc.

We used to use National but found Hertz quicker.

Rented from Hertz last August and thought they were great. Very fast and efficent and no high-pressure insurance sales.

When you say curbside check in, do you mean stop at the terminal first before taking it back to the Hertz location?

Yes, I did go thru AAA and used all the discounts/coupons possible.

I like these boards. Everyone is very helpful.

I'm using Hertz in two weeks so am glad you asked these questions!

That curbside check-in sounds like a good plan. Or how about DH dropping us all off and then he goes and returns the car......would that be smart or not?

Also, does anyone know if we have to pay extra for two people driving the car?

We do the drop Gail off with the bags and Dee returns the car.
He shows the skycap his ID and away he goes. Works very well.
If you are a member of the #1 club or Gold Club, the spouse drives free.

Your husband would need to show his ID but by stopping at the airport first you don't have to lug the luggage back on the shuttle.

Gail, I'm a AAA member and we went thru them to reserve a car, does that make me eligible for either #1 or Gold? I'm quite new with renting a car as we always went towncar before.:D

Thanks Safetymom for the curbside info.....I think we'll definetly do that instead of hauling all our luggage back on the shuttle.

No that does not make you eligible for #1 Gold but if you PM me I can send you a link for free membership in the program.

I'm probably overthinking this, as I frequently do, but how does the curbside baggage check work? Is this at the terminal or at the Hertz site? Is there a specific check in area or a skycap? I've never used Hertz at MCO but given the favorable comments about service and the baggage check-in, it sure sounds better than the space mountain length waiting lines at Alamo.

If both spouses are AAA members then there is not a charge for the second driver.

As a Gold member you don't have to check in. Just get on the shuttle and give the driver your name . You are dropped off in the Gold area. Your car is assigned a slot with your name on a big sign. Check the directory when you get off the shuttle for your slot number. The car should be running with the air conditioning on. Just get into the car and drive off. You will be checked out at the gate. About a 30 second process.

The nice thing about it. NO lines to stand in at the counter.

We're both AAA members so that's good to know.:D

Is there a Hertz desk at the airport we have to go to first before getting on the Hertz shuttle?

This is after your first rental. If I understand correctly, you have to go to the counter for the first rental.
