Hertz Question

Hey, I just gave up National after several less then positive experiences, and paid the $50 to switch to Hertz. In spite of the fact there rates at first sight are outragious, Ive found a few good discount codes that usually beat Nationals rates... Anyways, those who rent frequently from Hertz, i have a few questions.

1. Does Hertz upgrade you often when you get to your rental stall, or are they usually seldom upgrades?

2. Does Hertz rates change as much as National's (On a daily basis)

3. How efficent is the operation at MCO and other major airports as far as car availability and shuttle bus efficency

4. Finally, on the first rental with your #1 Club Gold membership, do you have to do something special, or do you proceed to the stall with your name on it?

Thanks Alot in Advance!!

Hertz at MCO is great. I use them all the time. As a #1 Gold you sometimes receive upgrades. It depends on what they have. Yes their rates change but I can't compare it to another company. If you belong to AAA they give a good Hertz discount.

I use Hertz all over the country and never had a problem. The shuttle bus is always waiting when I walk outside at MCO and it is a quick ride to the lot. Drivers are great. Captain Jack is the best, he keeps you entertained on the ride and you hate to get off.

For your first rental with Hertz you have to sign your paperwork. Go into the Gold office at the Gold board and you will be on your way quickly.

You will have a great experience with Hertz. MCO is one of the locations you can specify the exact car you want to rent. I don't count on upgrades and have been a 5 Star Gold #1 member for quite a while. They do have some coupon codes on their website for upgrades but it is subject to availability. We found Hertz quicker than National and the cars were in better condition.

Cool... an expert!

I rented from Hertz, also (thanks to the "SOUTH" tip on another thread on this board). Is there anything I should do in advance to make things quicker? Is the Gold club a fee-based membership? I think I signed up for free #1 Club a few years ago, but never ended up actually renting from Hertz, so I'm not sure of the advantages other than the email offers I get.

How do you select the exact car? Do you mean when you are onsite? Or is that for Gold members?

I rented a full size, which sounds a little intimidating (big). What are some examples of full size cars at MCO?

:thanks:

Thanks to South code, we have also rented with Hertz for the 1st time in many years. I have always received great service with GOLD at every airport I have used it.

For those who use Hertz at MCO, if I reserve a specific car such as a Camry, how likely am I to get that car?

Also, we will be arriving on a weekday at 4 pm and heading to WDW. We usually take 417, but I understand that we would need to drive back through the airport to the South exit to do so when leaving Hertz. Do you recommend this or should be just take the Beeline (I think) to I-4 even at that time of day?

Thanks for your help. -- Suzanne

SuzanneSLO, I would take 417. It isn't crowded and you will arrive stress free. It is easy to go around the airport to take the exit. The Beach Line will be crowded and so will I-4.

Carolc, there are links for free membership in #1 Gold. The first time you rent you will need to stop at the counter to sign your agreement but after that you go straight to your car.

A Ford Taurus is a full size.

I rent from Hertz almost every time I am in Orlando.

I have never had a problem there.

I don't take 417 unless it's rush hour. I don't really mind the traffic (I live in Atlanta, that's not really traffic) and I actually like seeing the billboards for all the theme parks on the Bee Line.

If you select an exact car my experience has been that you will get it. I tend not to do this since I have been a member of Herts' President's Club the last few years which gets me nice upgrades. (My last rental at MCO was a full size, I got an Infinity G-35 COOL car!) (President's Club is basically a reward for renting more then 40 times a year)

Aside from the nahb mentioned above (I'm a little worried about it since I am not a member), what other links are there? I am trying to search this board but keep getting a server busy error. :badpc:

:thanks:

Someone mentioned that Mousesavers had a link for free gold.

CarolA, you are right it isn't like Atlanta but still plenty busy at rush hour. BTW, it is called the Beach Line now.

Go to www.flyertalk.com Click on miles and points, scroll down to Hertz They have a sticky with coupon codes. I haven't tried to read thru it in a while, but start from the last page. The stuff on page one may be old (although they may update the first post, check the dates)

Thanks for all your thoughts on the Hertz rental. When I went to the Hertz website, I realized that it has been sometime since I rented from Hertz. I dont' travel often for business anymore and the leisure rates I have seen haven't been that attractive.
