Hertz was so much lower than Alamo, I'm going to try them. I emphasize try. I got the email that I need to go to the counter. I'm going to the garage, and if they won't help me there or the line is too long, I have a backup Alamo for $90 more that I'll use instead. I will pay for convenience. I'll post and update at pickup in a few days.

I rented a car from Hertz at MCO at the end of July - and signed up for their rewards program (first rental). I booked a AAA rate with pay it later (at pickup). I entered all my info in the rewards program ahead of time. We went straight to the garage (flew Southwest - so I think it was side A) - and my name was on the board in the garage outside of their office. We ended up having to stop in the garage office - no line - and had no wait. We were told to go to a couple of particular rows and pick any car. When we left the garage, they checked my drivers license and credit card info - and the rate was the same rate as I booked online. No issues at drop off either. So we had a good Hertz experience. Did you sign up for Hertz rewards program and book under your membership number?

ALWAYS sign up for everyone's rewards program. There's no reason you should ever have to go to a counter.

They usually make you go to the counter for the first one or they used to, to confirm that you are who you say you are...but I can't remember it's been soooooo long since I joined.

maybe the garage counter now counts as stopping at the counter at MCO. It was my first Hertz rental, and we were able to go straight to the garage, however we did stop in the garage counter office (with no wait).
