anyone know where I can get discount tickets? Planning a VERY last minute trip. My husband called me an hour ago and asked if I wanted to go for the weekend. Leaving tomorrow afternoon, 7 hour drive! Craziness!!! But hate to think about paying gate price!

I recall Wendys having some discount coupons earlier in the year - not sure if they still do or if they are still valid this time of year. When we know we are going, we usually have friends in the Harrisburg area purchase us "school" tickets which I think are around 1/2 off regular gate price.

Local Giant Food Stores sell discounted tickets. I think the adult tickets are about $10 off and kids $3 off (or something in that range). There's a Giant on Route 39 leading from Route 81 to Hersheypark Drive.

I've never heard of "school" tickets and I've lived within 15 minutes of Hersheypark my entire life. What are they? How do you get them?

When you get into town, stop at any Giant Food Store and buy your tickets there. They are nicely discounted (I can't remember how much).

Have fun!!

If they are referring to the ones I am familiar with...
Hershey offers a discount plan to 'groups' who want to presell/prepurchase large amounts of tickets. The minimum to do this (last time I got the literature about 2 yrs ago) was 20 tix. They end up being about or ever so slightly over half off gate price. Scout groups, church youth groups, or other youth groups, and homeschool groups tend to be the most popular venues for selling these types of tickets. We have done it and DD alone sold 40 tix, as a collective group our sales were at about 225. It is a win/win for everyone, those selling and those buying. I like those kinds of sales projects. :goodvibes

Thanks for the information. I've never heard of this as a possible fundraiser - would be great for an elementary PTO . . .

Thanks for all the info! Now if I can just get my house cleaned. Anyone else insist on having their houses cleaned before leaving for an extended period of time? Maybe I'm just a little OCD! :)

Also, if you are staying at an area hotel they should be able to offer a discount or have discount coupons at the desk. when we were there last week our hotel had them, though i had tickets through a group sale.

I assumed they came from the school their kids attend, but maybe as the other poster said it was through a fundraiser probably connected with a group from their school. If were planning on going to Hershey, we tell our friends around April/May part of the year, and they buy the tickets for us - which we use some time in the summer. There may be some restrictions on when they can be used.

Our township sells discounted park tickets. Adult admission to Hershey Park is $41 (gate price is $52) and a child's ticket is $29 (gate price is $32). They also sell Dutch Wonderland, Dorney Park, Morey's Pier, Knoebel's, Philly Zoo and Great Adventure. They sell them on a cash-only basis and you have to stop by the township building to get them. We take advantage of the low-cost passes all of the time.

I know this is too late for the OP but maybe it will help someone else. Check your town's website or call the parks & rec. department to see if they have them!

Nope, not OCD, me too! I have to have a cleaner than clean house before we leave, so I can get home and take a relaxing vacation from my vacation :goodvibes Besides, then I'm not away thinking, "oh I left a dish out, it needs washed, and then the floor needs vacuumed...." and I can enjoy my trip.

They also have a nice deal going right now if you buy your 2010 season pass now (early). A nice savings.

The price for season tickets: The rest of this calendar year and calendar year 2010 is $200. This also comes with priority parking (much closer to gate). Includes admission for halloweem, christmas and springtime events. 15% discount on food and souvineers. Well worth it if you plan on going multiple times.

And I think this includes free parking (usually $8-ish).

I know this is probably too late for the OP but we went last year for Labor Day weekend. The park was packed (stuffed to the gills). The waits were unbearable- one to two hours for everything. You had to wait in line to get into the waterpark areas (the giant superstructure, the kiddie pool, etc). It was horrible. If possible, try to go on Monday. Last year Monday was dead.

We went this afternoon arrived around 3 and stayed to closing. By the look of the parking lot I thought it was going to be packed. It was a hit or miss on the length of the lines for each ride. Waited about 20 mins for Comet but only 5 for Lightning Racer. Did not do Great Bear, Wildcat, or Stormrunner. (had kids along and no DH)
Fahrenheit was closed as we were walking by heading toward the front.
People were out of the queque area and waiting in a line outside the entrance to the ride. Don't know how long it was down and did not notice if it reopened before we left.
