Heroes officially cancelled

hopefully they do a short mini series or movie I want to see a proper finale and ending and please air it in the Uk not just America.

I don't know if I even want them to bother with a "wrap it up" style mini-series. The major problem with Heroes (and I've watched since Episode 1), is that the writers were great at building things up, but just plain awful at creating the "bang" at the end.

Season 1 set up the whole Peter vs. Sylar thing and, in the end, we got nothing but garbage.

Season 2, due to the writer's strike went absolutely nowhere.

Even this past season, the penultimate episodes were greater than anything the finale could deliver. And that's not saying much since this show had been in a downward tailspin since S2.

When I heard the news it was going to be canceled, I actually felt a little relieved. At least now I'm free from having to watch to see if they could ever go back to the quality level of season 1.

Dh and I were upset when we heard Heroes had ended. There are a lot of other show on NBC that are not as good as Heroes, even the last season which was not that good. As we said it just ended with not closure on what happened. I hope they do a show to show how it "ended". The first season was the best by far. Wih the writers strike and the adding of too many new characters I feel is what made it go down hill. We will miss Heroes.

I resonate with the pessimism of the portion of the quote I provided earlier... it isn't realistic. Everyone is going to see it as an opportunity for a big payday for themselves, and expect a lot more for a short mini-series or television movie than they earned for the series itself. It'll be like expecting viewers to be willing to pay to see the television movie as if it were a PPV even (i.e., about $35) -- I just don't see viewers being willing to do that. :)

I really liked Heroes when it started out but stopped caring recently. At first it had a feel that is was sort of a precursor to THE X-MEN, which was a storyline I was familiar with and enjoyed. I liked the characters and the dynamic, it was a little regular and a little mystery and the characters had charisma. But then something happened, the whole personality of the show changed and the stories spun wildly out of control as they spidered out weakly like LOST, 24 followed the same recipe and failed too, even Smallville did the same thing t a lesser extent. The character based storylines became flaccid and useless because the writers stopped developing the characters properly. Nothing kills off a show faster than when the production team chooses to focus on an unlikable character. If I don't feel connected to the characters and care about them I'm not engaged in the show and I stop watching. I get more irritated when a show dies in front of my eyes than when it's canceled, and Heroes died a while back, the cancellation is just a formal acknowledgment of it IMO. Too bad too, my whole family really liked it for a while (and 24, Smallville, LOST), we were glued to the TV. I like family friendly action TV & movies, I wish the networks would do more to appeal to us. I guess our time is up for grabs next season, I wonder who will come through?

I thought the last season was as good, if not better, than the first season. Nobody is purely good or purely evil. And I absolutely loved what they did with Sylar's character.

I thought the whole carnival concept was brilliant.

*sigh*

I have NO IDEA why I bother watching TV because almost every single show that I've gotten hooked on has been canceled... Pushing Daisies, Life on Mars, Heroes.... and every show that is wickedly popular I despise.

why did Heroes die when the first season was incredible they could bring in new writers and reboot the show or is that not realistic

I think the problem with Hero's, which I never watched until Season 3 (watched Season 1 & 2 on Netflix) was that they never could match what they did in Season 1. Season 1 was awesome, season 2 pretty good, season 3 okay, season 4 huh?

I totally agree.

We were huge fans season one. A great mystery, good guys and bad guys, unlikely heroes - ordinary people with really cool abilities, super creepy bad guys.... it was a great story, albeit a slightly goofy season ending.

Second season on the whole was still interesting and still compelling. But then it got lost.

Characters were back and forth in time and were sometimes good and sometimes bad and you never knew what the point was anymore. When I found there was no one left I wanted to root for I stopped watching.
