Hi -

Wanted to share our dining experiences from our recent trip. I did not write anything down while we were there, so this is from memory. If anyone wants any more details or has any questions, please feel free to ask. I have gained so much knowlege reading others reviews ... I would be happy to do my part by helping out other DISers if I can !

6/20 through 6/26 : We were a party of 9 ... 5 adults (me, dh, db, dsil, and nana ), a 10 year old, 2 8 year olds, and an 18 month old. All kids had selections from the kids menus (naturally) ... chicken, mac and cheese, hot dogs, burgers and pizza when ordering off the menus. I never heard one complaint and everyone seemed to eat enough to fill them up, so I will leave them out of my descriptions. All kids were more than happy with all the buffets as well.

6/20
Beaches and Cream for lunch
Love this place. Arrived at 11:30 after checking in to the BCV and no tables were available. We took 8 counter seats and the baby sat in db's lap ... not the best set up but we were starving after getting up at 3:30AM to catch a very early flight. Had terrific burgers, hot dogs, onion rings, floats, shakes and smoothies. This was declared db favorite restaurant at the end of his stay ... I think he visited an additional 3 times on his own when we had pool days.

Cape May Cafe for dinner
Very good. Everyone was pleased with the selections. Fish was very good this night ... salmon with 2 sauces: strawberry and lime butter. Strawberry sounded so odd I had to taste it ... and it was good ! Great desserts as always.

6/21
Crystal Palace for breakfast
The best breakfast buffet of our trip ... everyone loved it. This was the first time I had the Breakfast Lasagna and it lives up to the hype ! Talked everyone into a sample and they all loved it, too ! Doesn't look like much in the pan, though ... I think that's why they skipped over it. Amazing fresh fruit selections... sweet, fresh and delicious...especially the pineapple and strawberries. We found this to be the case everywhere our entire stay. Wonderful character interaction ... they were very good with 14 month old baby who was a bit fussy as he had rubbed sunscreen in his eyes just as we were about to sit down ... poor little guy !

Garden Grill for dinner
Another crowd pleaser ! Everyone enjoyed this meal. Salad was very good ... great ranch dressing. Db ate his weight in flank steak, I think ... was very tender and flavorful. Strawberry shortcake for dessert was a hit ... fresh whipped cream ... yum !!
A+ character interaction ... by the end of the meal, kids had concluded Chip had a crush on Nana !!

6/22
Donald's Breakfastasaurus
Our winning streak took a bit of a dive here. Db commented that I should take this on off the list next time ... enough said. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't nearly as good as the previous meals. Selections weren't as numerous and the buffet lines were packed the whole time ... they need to add more serving areas I think. Character interaction was minimal ... if you blinked, you missed your visit. They never came back.

Tony's Town Square for dinner
This was OK. No real complaints about food ... 2 had salmon which was very tasty, but a small portion, 1 had eggplant and liked it, 2 had pasta dishes. Dsil had spaghetti and meatballs and it was way, way overpriced at $18 or so if I remember correctly, in my opinion. Service was very good ... very personable waiter. Not really in a hurry to go back, though.

6/23
Pool day at Boardwalk
Had lunch at Leaping Horse Libations ... along with several adult libations to wash it all down ! I must mention that the kids LOVE their kids lunch there ... 2 large Uncrustables, chips, and a big warm chocolate chip cookie ! Happy kiddos !! Some also went to Spoodles pizza window and brought pizza back to eat at the pool. I had a slice and it was OK ... not NY/NJ pizza like we are used to ... but not too bad.
Back to the libations, I discoverd a new favorite - I think it was the Carousel, dh says it was the Fun House ... it's the one made with the orange vodka ... Yummy !!!

Beach Club room service for dinner
A treat for the kids and Nana while the other 4 adults dined with my and db's Dad who came to visit for the day from Tampa.
Kids loved it ... everyone was happy... they even brought a high chair for 14 month old that we were able to keep for the rest of our stay.

Adult dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse
DB treated dh and I as we treated his family to a studio at BCV through our DVC points. All ordered either strip steaks or filets. I had the strip and it was very tasty ... too big to finish. Everyone seemed pleased with their entree ... also ordered spinach on the side. Appetizers were 2 different salads, both very good and the shrimp cocktail which was excellent... huge shrimp. We ordered the dessert sampler plate to share ... yum . Overall, very good ... but very pricey and we all agreed at the end of the week that we had better steak at 2 other restaurants ... more on that later.

I'll pick up with 6/24 in another post (part 2)

Thanks Cindy!

That is quite an age range but it seem like you found dining to please all age groups. Thanks for the reviews.

Cindy great reviews. It sounds like a wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing.

DVCindy,

I noticed you had a pool day at the Boardwalk. I'm curious. Did you pool hop? We're DVCers, staying at the BCV in the fall, and if you pool hopped, I'm wondering how it worked for you. Did you check with the Boardwalk before you went or did you just walk over? Sounds like you had a great time with some wonderful meals.

It's hard coming back to reality, isn't it?

Thanks again for the reviews. I liked hearing about YSH, since we are trying it for the first time in a few weeks. Sounds pretty good.
:D

Thanks so much for the reviews. It's good to hear people liking one of our faves...Garden Grill. Sometimes the less than fancy fair only gets a wink and nod here sometimes to my dismay, but I am glad to hear we aren't the only ones who like GG!

Thanks for the reviews! I have to agree with you 1,000%. There is NO PIZZA like NY/NJ pizza.

Hi Pat -

Yes, we did pool hop from BCV to the BWV ... our kids love the Luna Park pool and wanted to take their cousin on the clown slide. We just walked over ... we all had our resort ID's with us noting we are DVC members just in case, but no one asked us anything. We went over about 10AM ... pool was pretty empty. We were able to get a very nice table in the shade ... worked out great !

Yes, it is very hard getting back to reality ... I can hardly believe it's over already !

Cindy;)

Thanks, Cindy. I'll have to try that this fall. We like the "clown pool," too.
