We are going for a week in March. We are staying at the GF and are a family of 3. At this point we have no dinner plans for our night of arrival but have park hopper passes for the next 6 days. We have ADR's for:

Yak & Yeti (lunch)
BOG (lunch)
Biergarten (lunch)
CRT (breakfast)
Sanaa (dinner)
Chefs de France (dinner)

For us we are more interested in good food than atmosphere and really like less traditional American food. Also CRT is our last character hurrah as our dd is nearly 12 and just isn't as interested in characters as much anymore (with the exception of Merida).

We also aren't on a dining plan and while we don't want to overspend on food we do plan on spending a good amount as we love snacking too. This is our second trip and we do have a list of snacks that we absolutely will be getting (looking at you schoolbread).

So what are some of your favorite options?

If you are staying at GF, we like GF Cafe. We had a really nice lunch here (yummy) and service was good.

Great choices! I agree with NDFamily, GF Cafe is very nice and would be convenient, but may not fit your described palate. Maybe taking the monorail to either the Wave in Contemporary or Kona in Poly? We enjoy all of these. Enjoy.

A couple of reasonable options that we like are Kona Cafe and Raglan Road. Especially Kona where you can fill up on appetizers and the great bread.

I would second Tiffins at AK, but it is expensive. Nomad Lounge, behind Tiffins, is good too. They have a great selection of non-alcoholic drinks for the kids. The adult beverages are great, and the appetizers are good too. BOG is good, but it's a little overpriced at lunch for what you get. I think dinner there is a better deal. We liked Skipper Canteen, but it might be more expensive. They have some interesting menu items. We are looking forward to trying Sanaa on our next trip.

If you're more interested in food than atmosphere, CRT may not be a great fit.

Are you going to Disney Springs? Less traditional American foods, I'm not sure if you mean you want ethnic?

If so, Frontera is getting great reviews! I haven't been there, but I do live near Rick Bayless's (the chef) other restaurants and they are phenomenal.

I find good snacks in the quick service in France, and I find them to be very filling. Savory not sweet.

I'm hungry.

We are doing it to "do it". Plus our dd is right on that cusp of losing interest in the princesses so it's a last hurrah of sorts. I doubt we will ever do it again but dh really wanted to go, he's struggling with how old our dd is getting. (She will turn 12 shortly after we return.)

We hope to make it to Disney Springs the day we arrive since we arrive in the afternoon.

I absolutely love the quick service snack stand in France! Last time we went I believe I ate there 3 times and we only spent two days in Epcot. This time we did park hopper so I'm going to try and sneak over there as much as I can!
