we arrived Thursday afternoon around 4pm. Checked right in to our offsite resort (Sheraton Vistana...really like it) and headed directly to DHS. Some things we've noted:
The crowds are high but manageable. Have a good touring plan and use Fastpass and you'll do fine.
Weather is lovely. We've been comfortable in jeans and a tee shirt during the day and a hoodie at night. It has been chilly after dark.
Cast members are great. Not a sour puss in the bunch so far.
Disney Springs is just outstanding. Ate a Blaze and D-Lux Burger and both were fantastic. We have no ADRs this trip so everything has been counter serve.
The new Muppet show in Liberty Square was adorable! Jingle Bell Jingle Bam was sensory overload...almost too much going on. We were never sure where to look, but it was quite the spectacle. The drone show was short and fascinating but needs a LOT of work. It is super hard to discern what the heck they are trying to do...like a Rorschach's test. It just doesn't work for 3D images. Once they figure it out I'm sure it will be cool...but no way it could ever replace the awe of fireworks.
Finally got to try both a sweet cream cheese pretzel and the cheeseburger egg roll. Both were good, and I'm glad we tried them but too much pickle in the egg roll for my tastes.
As for our lows...if you saw two adults openly weeping in the loading area at Tower of Terror on Thursday night, that was us. We had literally just arrived at the park when we got the call from our farm sitter that our beloved cat, Itchy, had taken a turn for the worst. She has thyroid issues and is on medication but it hasn't been working like we'd hoped. She was in terrible shape. I called our vet and they brought her in to the clinic for us where the vet agreed she was too sick to go on and wouldn't make it through the night. So they euthanized her...we got the confirmation she had passed while on line. It was very difficult to continue on with the rest of the evening.
Also, Friday morning one of my horses developed a big hoof infection and had a chunk or his hoof cut away to get to it....gross I know. But just another thing to stress about while away.
Tonight we head back to MK to do a few more things. Despite our emotional wreckage, it's been a lovely trip.
