Here's my take on the noise at POP

At other hotels (not Disney) there's a air/heat unit at the windowthat I can put the fan on to blow and it helps block out the noise from other rooms/pool. While the quiet units are nice, they don't help shield you from the noise. If they had the other kinds of units, I think I wouldn't even have a problem with noise at the POP! What do you think?

I have just returned 10 days ago from a week stay at the POp. The noise was nothing. We were at the 50s building back side. I loved it there. I will be posting pix and details of trip soon. :cool1:

We didn't hear any noise either time we stayed at POP. For those of you that are sensitive to noise, take a sound machine.

We're not sensitive to noise, we just don't like hearing normal conversations from the people next door at 6am. Or their alarm going off. Or their phone conversations.

Stayed at 8 other hotels just in the past year and never heard a peep.

It must be certain Pop rooms - we were 50s building, 2nd or 3rd floor, facing pool. Connecting rooms, but it wasn't the room we were connected to that we heard everything from.

Oh, and we of course heard anyone walking past the room but that's fairly normal for motels.

I did not find the noise at POP to be any worse than at the other WDW resorts. Of course, we were not on the first floor either.

::MickeyMo I agree. And I don't think a sound machine would block out a child yelling at the top of their lungs at 1am! It gets to be a bit ridiculous. We were in the 50's building, 3rd floor, on the corner away from the juke box, front side. ::MinnieMo

No a sound machine won't block that out but you would hear that at ANY hotel.

::MickeyMo Actually, no, not true. Not once during my 2 weeks at POR did I hear a kid screaming at 1 am. And what, may I ask, would the reason be for a kid screaming at 1am? There's no excuse for it. Where are the parents? ::MinnieMo

I have actually had more problems with noise at Contemporary. Really rude neighbors. They would come in really late/early jump on beds scream slam doors

I find it more being who is in the room next to you or above you. We have stayed at pop 3 times. Only problems were kids running above us on the outside walkway screaming (we have older kids so get up later) and next door rowdy adults with door propped open smoking in no smoking section yelling at the football game blaring on tv

We were in 70's each time

just back from Pop, 50s building, floor 4, facing away from pool. We did not notice any noise problem, even thru the connecting door. Of course being on the top floor helps.

My autistic son was somewhat bothered by the noise level in the food court at breakfast. We found the tables way over by the bar to be much quieter, and more comfortable.

I was most annoyed by the smoking everywhere, but what can you do? I guess you can smoke anywhere at a resort, all around the pool, outside the rooms, on the walkways. So, people were, and we sometimes had no choice but to walk thru the haze.

Have to agree about POP being loud, we found it very loud, but then we were facing the pool in the 60's building.

I had thought to turn on the bathroom fan, but even that's on a timer. That's what I usually end up doing at most hotels to block out sound.

Sorry but that statement just doesn't make any sense. What the poster was talking about was IF a child was screaming in the next room, you would hear it no matter what resort you were staying in. If by your statement you are implying that during your two week trip there were screaming kids and the room was so soundproofed that you didn't hear them, that would be ridiculous. It wasn't POP's fault the kid was screaming.

Exactly! We were down the shore last month and twice during the night the kid next door was screaming. :earseek: They left the next day (thank God). I don't think the POP is any different from any other resort/hotel when it comes to noise. I think it's the location.

This is exactly what happened to me. My friend and I (NO KIDS) were down to watch our daughters for Disney's Music Magic Days. We heard a couple ....... well you guys can fill in the blank. Needless to say we were giggling all night about it. I just got back from ASMo, we stayed in the Fantasia building 2nd floor and didn't hear anything. And as for the screaming kid thing, my mom had a connecting room to us at OKW and my little angle  had a meltdown at 9:30, I apologized to my mom about the noise and she said she didn't hear a thing. So not all resorts have paper thin walls. JMHO!

Another person on the third floor at the 50's bldg...last door before you hit the furthest rear bowling pin stairway, next to the parking lot. Room 2336 if I remember correctly. However, no noise at all. We did have pretty noisey neighbors check-in one afternoon. I mentioned to my dd that 'well, there goes the quiet.' They were really noisy going past our room and into their room next door. But, after that we never heard a peep. Must have been the sheer excitement of actually being in WDW and starting their vacation that had them all wound up!!!
I think the noisiest stay we have ever had was at the Polynesian. Tokelau bldg, 2nd floor, about midway down to the lagoon. Our balcony looked out, directly, on the construction going on at the Hawaii longhouse. Our next door neighbors, both sets since the room turned over twice, were incredibly loud. It seems that each night the boy that was there would call his grandma and tell her about his day. No problem with this, but I'm assuming they had a phone in their room. I"m not sure it he used it since he was screaming at the top of his littlel lungs..."Hey Grandma,,,we went to MK today and I ate with Pooh and I had yada, yada." Every night this happened at about 9:30.
We had people running down those interior hallways banging on doors as they passed. We had food trays left outside doors for days (not the persons fault but housekeepings, but wouldn't you think someone could have taken it away) and this happened many times. We had the most obnoxious children yet at the Polynesian. So, you can't judge based on what you are paying.
Sure, you don't get those ameneties at the values but we haven't yet, had reason to complain about our two stays at the values...Pop and AllStarMusic.

Oh, btw...we finally solved the kids' yelling issue....I had my dd say something in a moderatly loud voice. I then stood right next to the wall, and said to her.."Honey, I know you're upset, but please, use your indoor voice. There are others here and they don't want to hear all about it. Have some courtesy." There was very little noise from the next door neighbors for the next 3 days!!

I'll tell you why my kid screams at 1am - he fell off the bed and hit his head on the corner of the end table. He was bleeding and had a heck of a lump for the next several days. It took a good 15 minutes to calm him down and by then he had woken up the infant in the room next door who started crying. I felt bad that my child was the cause of such bedlam but there was absolutely nothing I could do. He sleeps on a regular bed at home and never falls off so it was basically just an accident.

We stayed at ASMo Fantasia on the first floor on the side away from the pool and honestly that night was the only night we heard anything from inside another room. A couple of days we heard people outside but in general it was a very pleasant stay.

Yep... no noise there!

I have stayed here too... and we were also facing the pool on the 4th floor... and we didn't hear much.

It all depends on how sensitive you are to the noise I guess. Certain level of noise will bug the heck out of the brains! :earseek:

That is a ridiculous statement. You can't always control if and or when your child screams!

I just stayed on 50's building one, third floor facing pool and didn't have any problems with the noise. We had people next door but didn't know it until we saw them coming in and out of the room.

Man I just dont get this. I don't care where you stay, if the people next to you are yelling and screaming, of course you will hear them. That is not a room problem, that is rude and inconsiderate guests.

The comment about why would a child be screamming at 1 am, what are the parents doing is totally uncalled for. There could be any number of reasons that the child would be screaming (sick, nightmare, fell out of bed) and to imply that the parents are not doing anything is an insult to parents.

If you are worried about noise in a hotel/motel, you better get use to it. IF the neighbours are noisy, then you will hear them.

Also a food court is a big cafeteria. Have you ever been in a cafeteria that is quiet??
