TV Dinners.

Does anyone buy these? I remember eating like two of these my entire childhood - it was a big deal, too.

My kids have had them like, well, two times, too - and they hate them! I was cleaning out the freezer and found a couple of them last night and my gang turned their noses up and balked at eating the chow.

The grocery stores are full of the little buggers, so someone has to be eating them - so - who is it??

Pam

Nope. We don't buy them, but that was our dinner when Mom & Dad would hire a sitter for us. Morton....Beans & Franks, cornbread and apples.

I lost my kitchen yesterday.

Actually, it was ripped out and the contractor is doing the prep work for the new cabinets. They won't go in until sometime next week, then we have to wait for the countertops to be made and installed and the flooring to be installed. We'll be eating alot of frozen dinners, happy meals, pizza and hoagies this January.

Now, TV dinners... I can't say that in the traditional sense that will happen. BUT, the Stouffers family style dinners, especially the mac & cheese are good. I also like their spinach souffle.

Does this count?

I also sometimes buy Lean Cuisine meals for a quick lunch.

None of these are the Swanson meals we were served VERY INFREQUENTLY as we were kids. As you said, Pam, these were a treat back then.

I used to buy them. My SO loved the meatloaf meals until they changed the sauce. I buy the ones with the little penguin on them for my kids sometimes.

I like the healthy choice dinners.

I sometimes buy them and throw some peanuts in them and pretend I'm eating a gourmet meal.

I occasionally get the Healthy Choice meals if I need a quick lunch, but no traditional swiss steak for me :yuck:

I remember eating them when I was little though, for some reason I thought they were great. Especially the little chocolate brownie that you got with it! :)

ACK! When we were kids, my mom and dad used to let us pick out a TV dinner when they were going out for the evening and we were having a sitter. It kind of made our night special. I hated the food, but I loved the idea of having little meals served in their little metal trays. :p

So -- I never liked TV dinners. I bought them on occasion for work when I was too lazy or busy to make my lunch (going to school full time and working full time, I used to get lazy or busy), but I never had them as meals at home.

But -- I just discovered Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice entrees and they are good! You just heat for a few minutes in the microwave, add a salad on the side and viola! I only like a few of them, but they are good for a switch from a sandwich for lunch. Those are the only two brands I'll try. I tried Weight Watchers, but they tasted like the old tv dinners. :p

So -- the verdict is, I like them, I guess? :p

I'll have a healthy choice dinner.

I cant say that we really like them, but we used to eat them a lot, I dont get off work until after 8 pm and I just didn't want to spend a long time cooking. Now that I'm doing the Atkins diet, I dont buy them at all, too many carbs!

I remember eating that Morton bean and frank one, I loved it when I was a kid....:D

healthy choice or lean cuisine for us.

I prefer lean cuisine DH prefers healthy choice.

mmmmmmm lean cuisine swedish meatballs........makes a great lunch! :)

Last time I was in BJ's I bought a 4 pack of Stoffer's frozen meals. One was Pot Roast, Chicken breast w/mashed potatoes, Turkey w/stuffing and mashed potatoes, and sirloin burger w/mashed potatoes. My kids ate them all and loved them! They like the kid cuisine ones too.

Healthy Choice / Lean Cuisine / Weight Watchers -- we have all of those in the freezer. Over time, we've figured out which ones we like and which ones taste like, well, frozen food.

With the busy schedules we all keep during the week, they are ALWAYS in our freezer. We have home-cooked meals over the weekend, but during the week, when everyone is getting home at all different times, they are a GOD SEND (and they're very good)!

A *LOT* of people I work with bring these to work for lunch and heat them in the microwave.

I try to cook most of the time, but sometimes just don't have the energy.

Love Stouffers stuffed green peppers. Just make mashed potatoes and open a can of corn to go along.

Marie Calendar's...Chicken Parmegana with the spaghetti, Chicken Broccoli Alfredo and Stuffed Manicotti.

Those little buggers come in handy once in a while. :D

Yep I buy them. 11yodd will eat them as an afterschool snack sometimes. I like having them on hand as a quick lunch for me if I don't have any leftovers. It can be a nice change of pace instead of a sandwhich.

I eat the Stouffers ones alot. Love the mac & cheese. Also eat the Healthy Choice & Lean Cuisine ones. I even occasionally buy the Banquet Fried Chicken or Enchilada meals.
And my boys love Kid Cuisines. :)

Yuk. Never had them as a kid, don't eat them now. My mother hated food that was processed, and she passed on that trait to me.

Some of the kinds people cook here at work smell sooooo awful, I want to gag just thinking about it. Thank goodness no one is cooking one today.

Well, this thread made me hungry so I raided the freezer and tried Lean Cuisine Portabello Beef with Red Smashed Potatoes for the first time ever. It was absolutely disgusting. :p I may have just changed my mind. :o

The Stouffers meatloaf dinner is really good when you don't feel like cooking (or don't have time) I always add a tblsp. of water to the veggies though so they don't get dried out. Also the Lean Cuisine chicken w/ mushrooms is good too.
