While on board the Magic last week I wanted to contact our excursion co. and let them know that we would be unable to make our appointment because the tenders weren't running. Guest services gave me the direct # to the ship for the excursion co. to call and reach me. It is 011-874-330-851-612

The number to reach the ship in case of emergencies given out in the DCL literature is 1-888-322-8732. This number can be used for either Magic or Wonder. It is also listed on their website.

The number you listed looks like an international number. Wonder what the price differences are?

The international code 874 refers to InmarSat Atlantic West, one of four regions around the globe for international satellite phone service run by InmarSat. In a search on the web I found calling cards that offer rates of as low as $0.24/minute to call numbers in this region.

Huge warning for anybody who tries to call that number. In most cases, the cost to call will be several dollars. Verizon Long Distance charges $9.00 per minute, and other carriers range from $3.30/minute to over $16 per minute.

In August my son had to call us while we were on the Magic, he was watching our house and the pool was ready to overflow from storms. When he called the number they asked which ship, so the number must be for all cruise ships, not only the Disney ships. I paid him back for the call, only $23.00, glad we only talked for about 3 minutes. I called him back from the ship and the cost was $20.00. I then called from St. Martin from a pay phone and the bill on my charge card was $8.00 and we talked for almost 6 minutes. He now knows how to let excess water out of the pool, glad it only cost me $51.00. I guess 2 lessons here, don't use the ship phone and remember to tell anyone watching your house how to handle most emergencies.
