Here now - what to do with leftover CS??

glad i found this thread - last year we used all our snack and ts credits but had cs left over. we were on free dining so let it go thinking we didn't have an option . this year we are paying for the dp (got 40% off instead - better deal for us this trip) so I won't want to just let it go this time.

we had CS credits left last week and were really given the runaround with this at POR with everyone telling us a different story!! we were told 1 - 1 and that we could use them at the shop - shop said no. best we managed was 1 rice krispie snack and 2 drinks per credit in the food court. ended up giving the drinks away as we were flying home that day - but didnt want to waste them. *loved* the dining plan though!! x

We wound up with one unused DXDDP credit last year when on our departure day we were too stuffed to have dinner... POR changed the single credit to a trio of snacks in their cafeteria.

I don't know if this is more hassle than it is worth for some people, but I find it a whole lot easier to assess my credit usage halfway through the trip. We tend to have left over credits and I don't really care to spend my last day running around to see how I can use them. It is so much easier to find out who will trade what for what when you have a free moment rather than leaving it to check out day.

We ran into the same situation, with 4 leftover CS credits. Yesterday I was able to swap them for 3 snack credits for each CS credit at Earl of Sandwich. The only rule was that I could only get 4 drinks.

So in total we got 4 drinks and 8 snack items with the 4 CS credits.

Hope that helps!

Good to know! We've used free DDP (regular) 5 times now and I'll usually figure out when we have a few days left how many CS we have left. I have treated families to their meals. We have also used them for meals to go for our plane ride home. Please, no flames on the sharing with strangers. It makes me feel good. First time we did it for a family of 4 at Flametree-the mom hugged me with tears in her eyes. I felt great!

This time we'll have QSDP so we'll have 42 CS meals to use in 8 days/7 nights between my DM, DD11, and myself. I see lots of meals leftover or we'll just have to eat more breakfasts in the food court. We usually eat breakfast in our room. I don't really like many of the breakfast choices at POP. While I love waffles I hate waffles that get soggy while I'm waiting to pay. We even tried ordering fresh ones but they still are soggy by the time you eat them. And I like my waffles well done too. I think last year you were able to get a continental breakfast (or was it the year before?) You got 2 pastries and 2 beverages. With refillable mugs that means 2 bottled beverages (soda, water, etc.) to take back to the room.

Last year I finally did something really clever-at least I think so. :goodvibes If you have your own vehicle (we always rent one) this may work for you too. You know how, especially at AK for some reason, by the time you get to your car in the parking lot you are really, really hot? Now I fill an ice chest with ice and bottles of water and/or soda. Then when we get in the car we can have some nice, ice cold beverages to drink. If you'll have refillable mugs then you will get 1 or 2 bottled beverages with each meal at your food court. You will rapidly get quite a stockpile. This helps use some up.

We left POP on Sept 1 with 4CS to spare. We were able to switch 1 CS to 3 snacks at the food court. They just told us the snacks had to be either drinks or snacks that could be counted at desserts. So, we did this just a few days ago with absolutely no problems and brought home a lot of snacks for the plane ride and for treats at home. Hope this helps as a very recent experience.

Now that is a lot!! Have you included breakfast? If I had been organised I would have gone out somewhere for breakfast on the last morning which would have solved the problem.

I have tried to use up as many CS as possible for breakfast. I like fruit and yogurt for breakfast so it makes it harder to use a CS instead of a snack. My problem this year is that we are doing more OOP TS than we did last year - 7 in total - so that already adds an extra 14 (7 adult and 7 child) CS meals to try and spend in between.

After reading pp, it seems like maybe things have changed, but last Sept. (Sept. 09) we were able to trade 1 cs meal for 3 snacks at Pop's food court with no problems. We actually did it on 3 separate occasions. Good luck!

I just came back from Pop and can say that they will give you 3 snacks for 1 cs meal as the person in front of me did it on two separate occassions. We never tried it as we had 24 snack credits left over that we used to buy take home treats for family/friends.

I'm the op and we ended up with 9cs and 9 snacks left. I'm well-versed in the ddp but we just couldn't eat it all. I have to say they have gotten much stricter with trying to use the extras. We were also at POR.

Have you considered doing the reg dining plan instead of QSDP? I would think the difference in price is still less then paying for 7 additional TS meals, especially with you saying you will have tons of cs left over. Even if you are going during free dining and staying value you can pay the difference between the two plans and get the reg dining plan.

That would be my suggestion for most people in a similar situation. I guess I am just not your regular person :rotfl: I did/do have the option to upgrade but chose not to for the following reasons:

The regular DDP didn't work for me. We are going for 14 nights. I really don't want to be tied to ADRs for such a long time. A quick calculation with the restuarants we are eating at brought my breakeven point between upgrading and paying TS OOP at between 5 or 6 TS. Some of our restaurants are not on the dining plan and this alone would cause DDP to cost more than QSDP and OOP for TS. Add in gratuity on an extra 7 TS that we don't really want and it doesn't really make sense for us.

But thank you for the suggestion. If it weren't for the above I agree, it would make sense to upgrade without a doubt. :goodvibes

we have just come back from saratoga - they would allow us only to swap one counter service for two drinks and one danish/cake from the bakery part

what about using it for breakfast and also going to EOS and getting them to go? If you want to do something special buy someones meal.. Adds to the magic!

This is a fantastic idea and I'm kind of shocked that no one else mentioned it. It at all possible, I would definitely try to but someone else's meal for them. Better than going to waste!

We left yesterday, and had 5 CS and 1 TS left, we stayed at Coranodo Springs, we had to go to the CS "Rix" and they gave us 3 snacks for each of the meals remaining. So we had 18 snacks. The only catch is, you have to go a CS area, couldn't do in the store to redeem. We had lots of snacks for the flight home
