We had boarding passes to return to ROTR last night. The ride was down when we arrived about 8 pm. CMs said “It’s DOWN, down. For the rest of the night.” But when I asked they gave me something I haven’t seen before: a pass labeled Multiple Experiences, multiple parks, and it’s good for a month. It’s also good for ROTR, MFSR, Space and Indy and others (not Peter Pan). In the details of what you can ride, it only lists DLR rides, but not CA (yet, we hop at 1).
So we were all excited to ride first thing this morning, but so far it’s still down!

Just an FYI, when I had a Multiple Experiences Pass, I was able to use it on Peter Pan. I showed it to the cast member before I got in line and asked if I could use it. He or she brought me to the front of the line. That may have been a cast member who was being extra nice and breaking the rules because I asked politely, but I figured it was worth putting the information out there. This was back when FastPass was still operating, so the rules for the Multiple Experiences Pass may have changed.

Wow, I’ve never seen a ME pass that’s good for more than just that day!

Since they are about to start charging for the lightning lane pass for this ride in particular and several other headliners, I suspect this is their first line of defense to stave off the call for refunds when lengthy downtimes happen, especially for end-of-day closures as described by op.

When they say Multiple Experience pass, does that mean you can use it more than once (like if you used it for ROTR you could then use it for Space)? Or once you redeem it on a ride it is done? Never had one before. I'm assuming you can only use it once.

You can use it one time for one ride. The "multiple experience" part is to indicate that it is not restricted to only one particular ride as your ride choice. The op was waiting to ride Rise which broke down and was given a pass to ride Rise at a later time or choose from a selection of other rides as opposed to being given a pass to ride only Rise at a later time with no other options.

You are correct. One pass is good for one ride, but you can use it on almost any ride. If you are familiar with the old FastPass system here is how the Multiple Experience Pass differs from FastPass:

You get a FastPass for ride X, and the FastPass is only good for one ride on ride X.

You get a Multiple Experience pass that is good for rides X, Y, and Z. You can now pick which one of three you want to ride once using your Multiple Experience pass. ( A Multiple Experience pass is good for more than three rides, I just wanted to use generic/non-specific examples to make it easier.)

I had multiple Multiple Experience passes from participating in my hotel's trivia night. We were told to show it at any ride with FastPass and a cast member would scan it and let us onto the ride. For rides without FastPass, we were told to show it to a cast member before we got in line. This was when FastPass still existed, so the rules/how it's used have probably changed.

Hope this helps.

Just to be clear, the Multiple Experience pass is usually restricted to the park you got it in (the person got it in DL) and they now list the rides you can use it on. For example, Smuggler's is NOT on the ME pass.

I had a ME pass that was good for more than one day once before, but that was because it was issued very close to park closing so the ability to use it was quite limited. I don't know if that's standard, but it made sense to us because the park was due to close in less than hour when we were issued it.

In terms of RotR, I think it was having issues this week. I was there on Sun when it was down during my boarding pass window. We were told to come back anytime before 9:00 pm and they'd honor the boarding pass. Then on Monday, RotR was late to open (again, around 10:00 am, I think) and it went down while I was riding it. I made it through the whole ride (but it was having issues because there was a lengthy wait between each of scenes towards the end of the ride - I learned there is a bit of dialog that gets added when there is a wait between scenes), but as I exited, I saw CMs leading folks out of the ride and issuing some kind of replacement pass.

Smugglers WAS available on this ME pass.

I used to use MaxPass to grab a FP for Indy after 11pm every night when we were going because the chances were 50/50 the ride would go down during that time and we’d have a fresh ME FP available for the next day.

This was also a great strategy for Goofy’s Sky School on rainy days. The ride would close but the FP time would often only be 5-10 minutes off. You could grab a FP and it would convert instantly to a ME when the time passed. Once time we stacked like 5 for each of us.

Maybe this is why we have paid lightning lanes? 🧐

We’ve gotten one that was good for multiple days before as well, when we had fast pass for a ride that went down shortly before closing.

What’s included on the pass seems to be dependent on which ride you got it for, the “higher tier” of ride, the more it can be used on. Since ROTR is arguably the highest available in DL, it makes sense it would be good on just about everything.
