After the poop cruise, Carnival was practically giving cruises away. Carnival Corp also owns multiple cruise lines, so that skews the numbers.
You can deny it all you'd like, but Disney has a PR problem on their hands with FP+. Why do you think they shut off comments and reviews on their Facebook page?
Carnival practically gives cruises away in the slow seasons because they make most of their profit from alcohol, the casino, excursions, and other on-board extras. But they did have to drop their prices even more for awhile; I don't know if they've gone back up.
I do think it's very telling that Disney shut off reviews. Someone mentioned tripadvisor earlier, so I checked out reviews there. Look at the ones for individual parks, especially DHS and Epcot. FP+ limits and the kiosk lines are being mentioned. Of course, there are still people complaining that they can't afford to buy those fastpasses, so all reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, but I do think FP+ is a PR problem. Not just because of vocal regulars who used to be "superusers"
Offsite guests aren't too happy either, and even onsite guests who might never have used FP- are frustrated and confused by the tiers and by technology glitches. Not to mention people who take Disney's advice and "book a teacup" or otherwise feel stupid for picking the wrong FP+. Yes, there are also people who love the new system, but Disney had to have hoped the social media response would be more positive.
I hope the CM is right! Thanks for posting!
