Here now...President Day thoughts / New FP+ info.

After the poop cruise, Carnival was practically giving cruises away. Carnival Corp also owns multiple cruise lines, so that skews the numbers.

You can deny it all you'd like, but Disney has a PR problem on their hands with FP+. Why do you think they shut off comments and reviews on their Facebook page?

Carnival practically gives cruises away in the slow seasons because they make most of their profit from alcohol, the casino, excursions, and other on-board extras. But they did have to drop their prices even more for awhile; I don't know if they've gone back up.

I do think it's very telling that Disney shut off reviews. Someone mentioned tripadvisor earlier, so I checked out reviews there. Look at the ones for individual parks, especially DHS and Epcot. FP+ limits and the kiosk lines are being mentioned. Of course, there are still people complaining that they can't afford to buy those fastpasses, so all reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, but I do think FP+ is a PR problem. Not just because of vocal regulars who used to be "superusers" ;) Offsite guests aren't too happy either, and even onsite guests who might never have used FP- are frustrated and confused by the tiers and by technology glitches. Not to mention people who take Disney's advice and "book a teacup" or otherwise feel stupid for picking the wrong FP+. Yes, there are also people who love the new system, but Disney had to have hoped the social media response would be more positive.

I think the 3 per day is here to stay. They don't have the capacity to give any more. Look at all the issues this past weekend as an example of why they can't give more FP+.

There is a small test going out in MK where you use your 3.. You can book one more. once you use that one you can book another. It is very limited and yes, I do know someone who was randomly selected for the test for a day.

I think Disney will refine and improve FPP by summer.

We're going end of March. Staying on site. FPP are booked. We thought about postponing the trip and waiting until they work out the kinks, but we decided to go. We're not going to hop for the first time ever. I don't think we'll get on as many rides, but maybe the trip will be more relaxing.

And a part of me is hoping lots of people cancel and postpone their end of March trip. The less people that go, the better it will be for us.

Maybe I'll start posting more FPP horror stories? ;) Stay away! Stay away!

And it's a completely worthless perk. If you use your FP+ in the morning, you wasted them, but can draw other FP+ from a pool that MAY contain a few good ones still, but highly unlikely.

Or you are smart, and get PM FP+, do RD in the morning to try and salvage your day, and then get an extra HOP FP+ to finish your day.

BRILLIANT!

CM with whom I bonded with was very honest about FP. told me that FP+ was a seven year planning process and said that the current system of 3 a day will be gone by Christams. Also said that hoppers are being worked into system and that by the time it's all done, it will be a much, much, better experience. He said that Disney is well aware of the frustration and is busting hump to adjust things before Summer.

Food for thought. :confused3

Wow, this makes me very happy! :) I hope the CM is right! Thanks for posting! :thumbsup2

The two significant complaints, here, other boards, and Disney's FB are (1) limit of 3 and (2) park hopping. Pretty universally a pain for everyone.

How much hump busting does it take to fix that??? What am I missing here? If it were my IT department it would be fixed tomorrow morning.

There are plenty of other suggestions working their way around the public, and they might take some longer-term thought (what rides to add FP to...witness what happened to Pirates when they did that, tiering, offset registration, app problems, time overlaps, other activity FP such as parades, character greeting, concerts...), maybe a few months (on top of the "seven years") to think about them and pulse the public.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are weathering the storm on the limit of 3, and no hopping, so they can introduce an upcharge for those (and) other features.

That's my guess for now.

Disney will eventually allow more than 3 FP+ per day and eventually you will be able to secure FP+ in different parks on the same day. When that is, how many FP+ and how many different parks remains to be seen.

Not necessarily.

I read the OP's quote of the CM as possibly indicating that by Christmas, as I've hypothesized many times before, Disney will start to sell additional FP+ reservations for a fee. If that happens, then the statement that "3 FP+ per day will be gone by Christmas" would indeed be true, as you would have the option to purchase additional FP+ reservations. Note that the OP didn't claim that the CM stated that you would be allowed 4, 5, or any specific number of free FP+ reservations by Christmas. He didn't state any increased number, just that the limit of 3 per day would be gone. And by offering additional FP+ reservations for sale for a fee, that statement would be absolutely true. I still believe that Disney will monetize the FP+ system as it is designed (limits, tiers) to do just that.

I do believe that once they straighten out the technical issues, that park hopping with FP+ will be allowed, and hopefully without an additional fee for the convenience.

Back in September of last year, if you were one of the initial testers staying at the Contemporary or Animal Kingdom Lodge, you were given a fourth FP+ reservation at the Magic Kingdom. The ride was pre-selected for you, but you could go into MDE and change the ride to any one that you wanted. I was part of that test, and it went on for a month or two back then. I guess this is a new version of that testing.
