So we managed to meet Mickey and Pluto before I fell off the train and hurt my foot. It's not too bad crowd wise and the weather is beautiful. DS is watching the castle show while I ice my foot. I'm pretty sure I popped one of my foot bones out of place. The first aid station nurses were very nice and gave me ice and an ace wrap. We are about to head back to AoA for lunch & nap. We experienced pixie dust!!! Complementary upgrade to Cars Suite from LM room! We're in the Lightning building. I hope staying off my foot and icing for the next few hours will help. Today is our first of 5 days. It's just me and a toddler so nobody else to help. Well wishes would be very much appreciated!!!

Do you have a way to get to a Walgreens or other drug store? A foot wrap might help alot and you can pick one up there. You could get a cane too which will help take some of the weight off your foot.

When I fell off the curb in MK and twisted my ankle spraining it, wrapping it up made all the difference as did putting ice on it every evening.

I hope it feels better soon!

I would say get an ECV, but since that's not really an option, I second the foot wrap. I believe there is a drug store on property that may deliver for you, or one of those grocery delivery sites could get you one. Also, the ice. Take breaks where you can elevate and ice. Over the counter pain meds will help a little, and if it gets really bad, there are med supply delivery companies that will rent knee walkers. I just saw one on a site last night, I just can't remember which one. Good luck, and I hope you feel better! :goodvibes

I'm going to get an X-ray later. I really messed it up. I fell so far and all my weight went onto a rolled ankle. I'm pretty sure I dislocated something. Going to try to get an ECV for tomorrow.

Let them know you are there with a little one, they may cast/wrap up the foot better, put on a walking boot etc.

I'm so sorry to here that you hurt your ankle . I hope the X-ray comes back with bad sprain and noting else. I would ask guest relations if they can get you a scooter for free it does not hurt to ask . I wish you a speedy recovery

Oh no! I hope you feel better and take the time to go get that foot checked out. That is some AWESOME pixie dust on your room though!! :)

I'm so sorry, I hope it turns out to be nothing major and quick healing.

Very cool about the room upgrade!

good luck hope it's just a sprainpixiedust: to you

That's tough, I'm so sorry. The x-ray sounds like an excellent idea, an ER will get you patched-up as best they can and know the best thing to help you get through the trip. Probably wouldn't hurt to let the front desk at the resort know what you're dealing with. They might have some helpful suggestions on how you can manage DS and still have a good trip. Unfortunately you'll need to physically be present at the front desk to do this as calling from your room will likely connect you to an offsite call center rather than someone actually in the resort.

Take it easy on the foot, hoping you can still have fun. :earsboy:

There is no drug store on property, but Turner Drug will deliver to your resort. You can Google them, or I am sure the front desk can give you the number.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. Getting an xray is the right decision.
I recently needed a scooter and I used Buena Vista Scooter. I was totally pleased with them. One potential problem for you though is that both Disney rules and the scooter company rules prohibit someone riding on your lap. I would be afraid that CM's would stop you if you had your little one on your lap.

Why would you suggest that knowing the OP had a little one with her would make them "wrap the foot better". As a health care professional I find the suggestion that we don't always do our best to be offensive. I did my best for each and every patient, every time.

I believe that anyone who uses a scooter needs it, as does OP. I don't know how Guest Relations could provide one free to every guest who needs it. They are actually quite expensive to rent.

OP Good Luck and I hope you feel better quickly

Follow your instincts and insist on a walking boot or something.
I did something similar at home and was diagnosed with a "sprain" so they wrapped it and sent me on my way. I knew it was more than that for many reasons, but who can argue with an Xray. Well, Xrays don't show minor breaks and chips right away and don't show tendon damage. 4 months of my insisting that my ankle wasn't right 'til an MRI showed a break and chip that they missed and a "nearly complete" tendon tear that they couldn't have seen with Xray anyway. So many people complain because they want pain meds and I think medical personnel don't understand that some of us really mean "something is not right with my body" not "give me meds" when we are complaining of a problem. Be persistent, and if you are walking around WDW solo with a toddler then it's justified to be extra cautious and splint something that might not need a splint during a "regular" day at home. (Because moms of toddlers have "regular" days...:rotfl:) You'd think medical personnel would know that some of us moms are responsible enough to NOT want pain meds when in charge of children :rolleyes2 but I guess they see the other side that we can't imagine...:scared1:
Try to have fun no matter what - you never know the cherished memory this trip will inspire. I was escorted out of DL one time by first aid and ended up in ER with an eye injury (that healed in a few days) - what I remember as a major glitch in our only trip to DL, the kids remember as the cool trip with Pirate Mommy (due to the eye-patch)
If you have time on-line while resting your foot, please share with us klutzes (full disclosure: my ankle injury was due to a dance workout video and discovering that unlike the star of the video, I am not a sexy Brazilian - this klutzy white girl fell over ) how you fell off the train so we can try to avoid a similar fate. :listen:

Your best requires all information about a patient, right? Wouldn't you want to do something different for someone who has to chase a toddler on an active vacation (and can't rest much) than you would for someone with a desk job who can rest their foot most of the day? I think the suggestion is that to allow you to do your job to your best, you need the nitty gritty reality of a patients day-to-day activities that allow (or not) different types of care. Not all patients need exactly the same care - your best takes each patients needs into consideration, right? :flower3:

Oh I am so sorry to hear about your foot!! What a bummer :( Hope it's ok and heals very quickly!!! I'm super excited for you about the upgrade to the Cars suite though, that is amazing!!!!

So very sorry to hear this, BB. A bummer for sure. You'll turn it around, watch and see. You have to be ready for the little guy's birthday.

Ok here's my update. Disney is paying for my scooter, which is already here. So far no complaints at the resort about having DS on my lap. That is really my only option right now so I really hope nobody gives me grief in he parks about having DS with me. Seeing as how I was injured on Disney property, I sure as heck hope not. I'm not stranger to ankle injuries or broken bones. I'm positive that nothing is broken. It mostly hurts when I put weight on it. I spoke with a nurse and it's likely a bad sprain and dislocated metacarpal. I was able to hobble around the room and get mostly unpacked. Thanks for all the well wishes! Now here's to not getting crap from CM's in the park. *dear Lord, all I want for Christmas is for DS to ride with me on my scooter*
