Here Now - Magic Kingdom March 6, 2018

Was watching HEA last night for the first time (absolutely loved it) while a person in front of me decided to watch the whole show through their point and shoot. Fine, do what you like but please don't hold the damn thing so high that you force everyone immediately behind you to join in your tiny television screening.

I get that the show is large enough that you can view "around" the screen, but it's really, really distracting.

Back at Magic Kingdom today. Yes, Splash was down in the morning during our FP+ time but we just had an earlier lunch instead and by the time we were done, it was back up and DH and DD10 rode. It was COLD though. I mean, I'm from Canada, I was shoveling my driveway the day before I came down, but even for me it was a bit much. There were still people there in shorts and T-shirts, but with a high of 63 (and rope drop temps barely topped 50!) they could not have been comfortable. I had on every layer I brought, so I was OK but really hoping it warms up soon!

Off to Epcot tomorrow. We're here until the 18th, so if anyone has any questions about what's going on, just let me know. I'll try to check in every day or so...

This is our third family trip to Disney - me, DH, DS12, DD10, DD7. We had our first park day yesterday - Magic Kingdom from rope drop to close and it was AMAZING! This was our first time attempting a full day, and our first time without a stroller, so I wasn't sure we would make it but the kids did great and we had so much fun!

A few highlights...
- We arrived around 8:30 for a 9:00AM open, were about the third row back from the rope at Liberty Square Bridge and rope dropped Peter Pen easily (walk on) My girls loved the queue!
- Crowds were very manageable. Posted wait times got pretty long in the afternoon, but we found most wait times to be a bit inflated.
- I had a lot of trouble with spotty WiFi this time, and the app was giving me trouble so fourth and up FP+ were kind of a pain, but we managed. (Our extra FP+ included Small World, Buzz, BTMRR and Magic Carpets).
- The only ride closure that we encountered all day was the People Mover (!) and it was back up and running shortly after.
- Eating at off times is great. We had an early dinner at Pinnochio Village Haus around 4:30 and it was empty.
- We saw HEA for the first time and it was incredible! We were blown away! But if you are ever considering recording the entire show on your phone, please reconsider. My family had the perfect view (behind the hub, staked out an hour in advance) only to be ruined by a man standing 20 feet up holding his phone above his head the ENTIRE show. :(
- Pixie Dust moments included my girls getting into the FP+ line to meet Tinker Bell without having a FP+, and an awesome CM at Magic Carpets at the end of the night giving us a certificate for 5 free snacks at Aloha Isle right before park closing. It was so much fun slowly strolling out of the park eating our Dole Whips!

Off to Animal Kingdom today... hope our good luck continues!

Sounds like a wonderful day. Hope the fun continues!

Sounds like a great trip so far, you’re so lucky to get last minute FPs for FoP! Hopefully it warms up for you. I’ll be following along, wishing I was there too!

Love this!! Thank you so much for sharing. We'll be in MK tomorrow till midnight, so excited! I am hoping our pre-spring break timeframe really helps with the crowds.

Chilly start again today, but warmed up to be an absolutely beautiful afternoon at Epcot... lots of sun. (Be careful of that - forgot to put sunscreen on DS's face yesterday because it was so cold and he got a bit burned. Apparently the sun doesn't know whether the temp is 60 or 90 at this time of year.)

Had another great day. Rode everything in Future World except Living with the Land, then did half of World Showcase in the afternoon, before riding Soarin' again on our way out (that was our 5th FP+ - had to break up our party into 2 groups to get it, but lots of times showed up with a few minutes of refreshing). We got the Passports for our kids, and they absolutely loved going from one country to the next getting their stamps and talking to the CMs. DD7, (who taught herself how to count to 20 in Arabic using Youtube just because she has a friend who speaks Arabic) really impressed the CMs in Morroco. They gave her a special "Morrocan Mickey" magnet and she was thrilled. I highly recommend the Passports as a way to get your kids engaged at Epcot.

One take-away from today... Soarin' is a vastly different ride depending on where you are sitting. Rode the first time in the lowest row (row 3) and the distortion is MUCH more noticeable. Row 1 is a lot better, especially if you can get the middle section. It's worth asking for, even if you have to wait.

We have another day at Epcot next week. Looking forward to finishing the rest of World Showcase and riding FEA again with my girls.

Tomorrow - rope dropping Hollywood Studios for Jedi Training...
