I have a similar story about my now 12 yo DS. When he was 3 1/2 he did not want anything to do with the characters. Buzz Lightyear at MK did all he could to get my DS to be comfortable with him. He almost succeeded. Later that night at Chef Mickey's, Minnie was the same way. She was awesome, but DS still wouldn't get out of his funk. A few days later at Crystal Palace is when the ice finally broke. Eeyore came over to us and DS was all smiles and gave him a hug (though DS wouldn't get out of his chair). When Pooh came over DS practically jumped out of his chair. DS was great with the characters for the remainder of the trip. Magic at its best.
