Has Disney or The Boardwalk done away with towel animals?? My girls love them and created decorated envelopes for mousekeeping before we left home. Each morning they have added a little note on the front saying "towel animals please" but still we have not received any in 5 days. My DH says it is because we are not leaving enough. Each envelope just has $5 in it which I thought seemed enough for the 4 of us as we are also leaving the room quite clean each morning. Is he right? So far the location of the boardwalk we love but that is all unfortunately so was just wondering if this is common here?

You may only receive a towel animal once during your stay or not at all. Not all housekeepers know how to make them.

When we went to Pop we got one on our last night. :) It was a fun surprise, but we didn't expect one.

We have gotten them occasionally, but they aren't ever guaranteed and doesn't have anything to do with the tip amount, it's just extra magic if you get one. Some housekeepers don't know how make them, sometimes they have too many rooms to clean and not enough time, etc. I hope you enjoy the BW!

I think either your mousekeepers do not know how to make the towel animals or they cannot read English. Last year our more regular mousekeeper did not understand much more than 'hello' in English (we used to pass her almost everyday she was working when taking an afternoon park break). She left us a note in Spanish everyday thanking us for the tip. We got towel animals but not everyday so maybe it is also dependant on how busy the mousekeeper is? I hope you get one before you leave!! :goodvibes

Towel animals were always intended to be a little pixie-dust surprise from your housekeeper. They're not really something you can ask for, or pay for, or something you expect to get every day, or even every trip. Just a little surprise day-brightener.

If you've taken DCL cruises, I know that they're a big thing there, and done very frequently. Not so much at the resorts.

It's definitely not because you're not leaving a big enough tip, and it may well be that your housekeeper does not speak English, and so can't understand the notes your girls are leaving. Or, they don't know how to make them, or haven't had time to make them.

Has nothing to do with tip. As others said, not all mousekeepers know how to make them.

As you have learned, when you expect towel animals, you will be disappointed. As PP have stated, they are not guaranteed. Not all Mousekeepers know how to make them. Not all Mousekeepers have time to make them. Asking for them does nothing to increase your chances of getting one. It has nothing to do with the size of your tip.
Enjoy the other aspects of your trip

The housekeeper's job is to clean your room. Making towel animals is an extra bit of pixie dust they provide if they have the time. They are not part and parcel of booking a room at a Disney resort. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.

When DBF and I stayed at ASMu for 10 days in October, we were lucky enough to get 5 towel creations in total: one was there on a windowsill when we checked into the room (also mickey head towel on the bed!), one was in the room after our first day, then second day, and I think 6th day. There were a couple times when we forgot to take the "do not disturb" sign off the door and mousekeeping didn't come in to clean our room, oops! Wasn't a big deal though, we kept the place neat and tidy! We also noticed that our mousekeeping person changed about halfway through our trip. So I think as PPs have said, it must just depend on how much time/knowledge-of-towel-animal-making your particular mousekeeper has. And on the bright side, if you don't get any on this trip, at least it's one more thing to look forward to on your next trip! ::yes::

Like others have said it's never a given you'll have towel animals as it depends on the housekeeper. Our last trip we stayed 8 nights and our only towel creation were Mickey heads the day we arrived.

I also agree they may not be able to read the notes you are leaving. I know more than once we tried to ask a housekeeper a question while we were there last and they didn't know enough English to be able to answer.

Towel animals are a perk, not a right.

We rarely get them at any Disney resort and we never expect them. If we do get one we are grateful and that's about it.

I won't tell you that we got two on a one night stay at Kidani. A Mickey head and a butterfly with a little card containing a cute saying.

Hi
We have received a few over the years while staying at Old Key West,
if you have a minute or two maybe you could make a couple of spring butterflies with the girls.

Boardwalk Community Hall
Quote from allears

Community Hall is a "recreation" area located near the quiet pool of the Villas. Bicycles, noodles, life jackets and tennis equipment are available for rent. Movie rentals are also available for $3/night (free for Disney Vacation Club members). There are daily activities for children, including face painting, sand art, necklace making, water balloon toss, fishing trips and more. Activities change daily, and some require a fee, so it's best to check with the Cast Member at Community Hall for a schedule and more information.
Sometimes towel animals making happens here.

Have a great trip

I am ridiculously neat when I'm at a resort. The beds are made every morning, the vanity is wiped down. Towels are hung up to dry. The only thing a housekeeper has to do is maybe bring in new toiletries and empty the trash. They usually take the hung up towels away and replace them though...annoys me since that's wasteful. BUT...I seldom tip at WDW. And I have had towel animals about 75% of the time. Almost always when I'm staying on points at a DVC resort.
But there was one time at Pop that we never got a towel animal. I tipped the first day we were there, then stopped. Why? Because our housekeeper took until 3pm, every day, to get our room done. Every day. If we returned midday for a break, we were in danger of interrupting her! And there were no towel animals left in windows anywhere close to our room. But other areas had multiple TAs in the windows. I can only assume that our housekeeper had no idea how to make them!!!

You shouldn't have to leave a tip in order to get a TA. They should just appear. But, I try to remember that they are, after all, only towels/faceclothes folded up to resemble something else. And if I don't find one, so be it. It's just not that big a deal. I would much rather have my room cleaned in a timely fashion than have a few towel butterflies left for me.

When I was at the Poly last year, we only got 2, over our 4 night stay. So I can't complain about 50% chance of getting one.

Honestly, if you are paying for Board Walk, or any deluxe, they should bring REAL animals into your room, let alone do towel animals.

Really, I think that that price point you SHOULD expect that kind of service or treatment. A standard room in low season is like 385/night ...

We don't do deluxe, but I think you are totally justified to be disappointed. I wouldn't even hesitate to mention it to the front desk. Maybe not all demanding like, but really, just say you were/are disappointed.

Hope you trip is, otherwise or despite that lack, awesome !

They are not something you can expect. They are meant to be a cute little surprise. We have stayed value to DVC and received Towel animals on only ONE of our visits. It was a pleasant surprise but not something we expect
