We were at POR by 8am to check in. Their computers were down, but thanks to the miracle of online check in, we had our magic bands and PIN number all set. Just no room number. We drove to MK and made rope drop with plenty of time to spare.

By noon, the girls and I had ridden the tea cups and met A&E, and DH and DS had done BTMRR and Splash. Then as a family we did Pirate and the Jungle Cruise, then they all did Splash and I hit the Christmas shop, then we all made it to our BOG lunch fast pass.

We decided to go back to our resort and check in and DS had a swim. So we changed our next FP time to later on. We made it back to MK for our Space fastpass, and I did the People Mover instead. We rode Space Ranger Spin and then headed to 1900 for the first character dinner we have ever done. So much fun!

We had planned to go back to MK, but middle DD had a bad headache, so we went back to Riverside and we are just chilling in our room.

So far, A+ for the whole magic band experience. DDs iPhone has been great for the MDE (my samsung ace is way too slow) and we've had no misses at all with the bands working!

On to day 2 tomorrow!

Great to read your post! We will be checking in to POR in 25 days! We love POR! This time, it will be all 5 of us and since you have 5 in your family, can I ask you a question? Is your room in Alligator Bayou? I've been told that families of 5 all get put in AB because those are the only rooms that can accomodate 5 people. I'd like to find out if that is your experience. The past 2 times we've stayed at POR we've been there for a cheer competition and so it was just my girls and I (party of 3), so we stayed in the Mansions. Which I love. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed at probably not being able to stay in the Mansions this time.

Hope you have a great trip! Keep posting and let us know what a great time you are having- would love to hear all about it.

Thanks!

AB does indeed the extra bed. We LOVE it there, find it so much homier than the mansions. Sure you will have a great time!

We did py for a preferred room, mostly to be closer to the bus and main buildings. DS is currently laying on the fold down wall bed, and at 13, almost 6ft tall, he's totally loving it. He called it the minute we hit the room. The area is lovely, and we would totally stay here again!

Do you know if you're in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort? I'm thinking those are the only ones with murphy beds, but not 100% sure about that. My 3 kids will probably all be flipping coins to decide whose staying on that bed!!

Yes, the murphy beds are only in the AB section. If you have five people on your reservation, you will be placed in AB.

Cool that they have Murphy beds. I remember having a trundle bed at POR 12 years ago. Now I have to go look for pics.

Hope the rest of your trip goes as well. I am going to torture myself and ask this question: what was the stand by for A & E meet and greet today? I can't get FPs and am hoping to hear some sort of magical news that it is better :rotfl:

We love POR and as said, yes the AB rooms are the ones you will be automatically assigned to with having a party of 5. They are the only rooms that have the murphy bed. They started the murphy beds March 2012, we happened to be the first family in our refurbished AB room on our March 2012 trip. If you do a little searching online you can find a photo, Im not running across any of mine right this second.

Im glad you are having a great time, enjoy POR, it is so beautiful!

We loved the characters at 1900! The stepsisters were so hilarious as they gushed all over the sight of the prince and then made ugly faces behind Cinderella's back and talked about her to everyone eating. The serious acting Lady Tremaine just added to the hilarity for me as she told my daughter she "must clean her plate before she may have dessert." Was a blast!!

I have stayed at POR for 6 of my 7 trips. The first 3 trips were with my family of 5 so we stayed at AB. The following 2 trips we were in AB and we stayed in the Mansions the last 2 times (Magnolia Bend). I much prefer AB. I love the smaller buildings and the landscaping.

We had a FP+, so we were maybe 20 minutes. But when we went in at 9:45, stand by was at 300 minutes. I checked each time I walked by, and by shortly after lunch it was 140, and when we walked by at 5:30 on our way to 1900, it was around 120.

This was our first ever character dinner, and it was such a blast! Cinderella and the Prince were lovely and charming. But the Stepmother and sisters were hilarious! The mother asked DS (13) how much money he had, and told him he could marry Anastasia, and take her away with us . The sisters each asked the same thing, and both said he could marry their sister, as she has lower standards. LOL

Seriously, Drizella in the green was the spitting image of the animated one in the movie!
