Here now, a few observations

During MNSSHP in September we were not given a parking pass either. But this worried me so we ended up going to the front desk when we got back (1am) and asked for one. I just have never been without one and I knew I was checking out the next day but wanted to leave my car while riding the buses. I will still ask for one just in case. Don't want to take any chances xD
Thanks for the updates. I also saw my MVMCP on the 8th sold out.

I don't think the crowds are that bad. It's definitely more crowded then our last December trip which was in 2010, but I think the crowds are less then we are used to in October when we usually go.

EMH at DHS were empty tonight.

We were not given a paper parking pass for our rental car. All parks and resorts we visited scanned our magic bands for access.

That's good to hear about the magic band scan for parking. That's what we were told at check-in in June, but that wasn't the practice at the parks. Good to know it is now. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

We had to show our bands but they were rarely actually scanned.

We had a spot at Ft. Wilderness, checked in on line, no paper parking pass and we were just waved through with our bands - I think they were scanned 2x. We were at DHS at 8sm to get our pick for JTA and hit RD at MK (we went on party days) but we were able to do everything. Our first MK day, 11/30 we rode every ride in the park except Dumbo and Tommorowland Speedway and we left at 4pm (used FP for 7DMT, PP and Space Mtn). Once the grandparents arrived for subsequent days we did the shows (Laugh Floor, Philharmagic, Hall of Presidents) and Tom Sawyer's Island but we still rode a ton of rides with minimal waits. I think we rode SM 8x, Splash 4x, BTMMR 5x in our 3 days. Our Epcot days (2) and AK (1) we arrived just after RD and were able to do everything we wanted. Rode Everest 3x (2 times shortly after RD, maybe 8:15) and with FP. Walked onto Dinosaur after Everest, then hit Primevial Whirl and Triceratops, went back and met the inlaws, did the Pangini(sp?) trail and used our 10-11am safari FP. We saw Lion King and Flights of Wonder (didnt make Nemo as the inlaws were done after 4pm LK). So while I still think RD is important, we would still have done a ton without it. I grew up in CA going to DL so maybe my perception is different but I think if you are organized and pay attention to the waits in the app, the crowds were very reasonable and the touring was great! We went back to MK for 3 hours today (Sunday 12/6), hit the FP kiosk in Tomorrowland, rode SM (DH and DS5 rode Astro Orbiter and Buzz), went out to BTMMR, Magic Carpets, did Philharmagic again, Barnstormer and back to Tomorrowland to use FP for SM (DH/DS to the Speedway) and were back to Epcot. And we took LOTS of pictures with MM. Personally, we thought this was a PERFECT week to be here. Crowds were entirely manageable, decorations and special events were spectactular and the weather was amazing.

OP here- just checked into AKL after 6 nights at OKW. Staying 5 nights here. No paper parking pass, just like at OKW even though we checked in at the desk.
We had booked a standard view studio, but were given a savanna view, and our entry door overlooks the main Jambo lobby.

MK was lively this morning shortly after morning EMH. Rode the Mine Train with fp+ for the second time this trip. Stand by wait was 70 mins at about 10am.

at Epcot on Saturday the crowds seemed to be moderate but not that bad. Wait times weren't as high as I would've expected, even on Soarin and Test Track (early afternoon saw 70-75 min wait times on them-Soarin went down to 75 at one point soon before our FP time started, and even though TT was down earlier for a long time earlier on, in earlier afternoon it still was 70). Still did FP/Single Rider to save time though

Its weird we were there in Sept and were told parking passes were no longer being issued. Went in Oct and Nov and both times we got a parking pass.

Some have mentioned if you get a txt to go to your room the packet is waiting for you in the room but I never got one in august when I was there.
We went straight to our room, too and didn't have a packet waiting for us.

I have an AP and not one CM has asked for us for a MB, I just show my pass when I pull up. Only 1 in the last 20 has even taken it out of hand to look at it. It would be nice to have a lane for passholders and resort guests who can just scan the band. But I can see that getting messed up real quick.

OP here again. Drove to CR and valet parked for dinner at The Wave last evening. Both the food and the service were very good. Walked to MK and watched both the MSEP and Wishes. For both, Main Street and the hub were pretty packed. We had fp+ for both so got great spots to watch. The newly opened bypass from the hub to town square helped a lot when exiting with the masses. Walked away from it all over to CR to retrieve our rental car and were soon back in our studio at AKL. Well worth the $25 + tip for the valet.

EPCOT today for morning EMH. Got lots done by 11am when World Showcase opened. Crowds a bit less than they were on Saturday. Back at AKL now getting ready for our dinner ADR at Boma.

Saturday at DHS was a madhouse. I've never had to park so far away amd we arrived late at 5pm! The osborne lights were wall to wall and near impossible to move through. Ive never seen anythin like that evening in that park.

Sat night had gridlocked traffic trying to get to DHS. Have a friend that was at OKW....took him 80 mins from OKW to DHS! We were there late last week....it was a mob scene. Headed over to DHS for dinner and meh in Sun night.....by 9:30ish it was wonderful at Osbourne Lights. Plenty of room to move around.
I've been here since Wed...I've been coming at this time since 2003. It gets more crowded every year. I think this will be my last Dec trip. Too many people, too many attraction breakdowns.

Disney has a permit waiting for approval to make a "fly over" to make it faster for resort guests to get past the lines and onto the road that goes to the resorts.
