Here now 4/28-5/5 lower crowds, longer lines

We arriving this weekend for our trip (May 5-10). I was planning on AK on Sunday 5/6 but looks like it might be crowded that day? Just saw touring plans website has it at a 9?! I don’t want to switch my plans but I’m concerned about the crowds! Thoughts?

We're going 16th thru the 22....The only events taking place is the 18/19 special olympics. The cheer competitions are over and the soccer tourament doesn't start until the following week - I think we're good.

EPCOT might be busy on the weekends but other than that, I think we picked a good time.
Do you know what resort is hosting the Special Olympics?

Weekends are always crowded.

We are at AK now and this is the first time I’ve seen FOP at 65 min! Navi is actually higher at 90 min. We got here at 5 pm which I think helped.

Weekends do tend to be crowded at all parks so either way, you may hit some longer lines.

I was at MK and Epcot today. Out of the couple trips I've made this year, today had some of the lowest waits.

Aside from being sweltering hot, wasn't too crowded

They had Sun 4/29 listed as a 9 and it turned out to be a 5. Don't change your plans. It's going to be busier than it would be during the week but I doubt highly that it will be a 9.

We were there from 4/26 to 5/1. We thought the crowds weren't too bad. But we did notice that many of the queues were being "throttled".

Big Thunder - 1 track operating a few times we rode
Toy Storia Mania (of course this is impacted by TSL) - 1 track operating
Pirates - 1 line loading
Splash Mountain - only loading front few cars

There were more... but the point is they do "throttle" guests. They are, of course, trying to save operational costs but I also think they must feel there is a wait which should be expected. I don't think they like "walk-on".

Epcot yesterday felt quite crowded, Land 40 min standby, Nemo and Figment 25 min in afternoon. MK today walkways not bad at all until late afternoon, but lines pretty long starting early on. As noted recently, rides are running at lower capacity (one side Thunder, skipping ride vehicles when loading).

I've been kind of shocked hearing lots of CM's standing around complaining amongst themselves over long hours, lots of observable eye-rolling attitudes from CM's. Not much "have a magical day!", more "keep moving", "stay left", "use both sides" apathy. It's kind of disconcerting and doesn't feel quite "Disney-ish" of old.

Having fun anyway, 3 extra Anytime FP sure helped today after Fort Wilderness had lots of trouble with our cabin's door lock and linking our magic bands at check in.

I'm noticing that by keeping up with the DIS, I know more than most CMs, they don't seem to be getting trained well or something. It often seems almost like when you ask a question, they just guess or make up an answer. Maybe reading DISboards should be a required part of training.

I feel like it was the same way when we were there in March, but higher crowds but low staffing. Peoplemover had a 35 min wait, really?? The CM would skip an entire car?? How?? I wanted to say what the heck are you doing, there should NOT be a line here and fill the darn car!! Disney needs to fix this. They need to pay their staff and fix the problem they've created.

This was exactly why we gave up our annual and stopped going. With a bad back I have trouble standing around. We would go at off times and always have something we could go on and enjoy ourselves. The big rides were either done over time with FP or early on. Now with managed waits it would be no fun.
