Here lately I am always in a borrowing state.... so I have a question.

We have two home resorts....VWL and SSR. One is a Sept. UY and one is Oct. UY. If I book a trip next summer 2017 do I borrow from 2017 or 2018?

Since 'summer' 2017 falls in your 2016 UYs, you will be borrowing from the 2017 UY. You cannot borrow from either 2018 UY contracts for a trip in summer of 2017. You can only borrow up to 1 year ahead.

You are currently in your 2015 UY. If you book a trip next summer, that will be in your 2016 UY so you would borrow from 2017.

Your 2016 UY runs from 9/1/16 till 8/31/17 for the Sept UY and from 10/1/16 till 9/30/17 for the Oct UY.
For a trip in the summer of 2017, if you need to borrow points you will be borrowing from one of your 2017 UYs.
IMHO, Get yourself together a spread sheet and lay out when you want to travel to determine which UY the points are coming from. Remember it when you travel that the points have to be available not when you book.

I am a fairly new member too and have loosly used a spreadsheet, but i am wondering if anyone has a good spreadsheet that they can email.

I just use a notebook and keep notes. Draw diagrams that work only for me, showing my Feb 2016 points being moved to 2017 and being used for Princess...showing my 2017 points going back to 2016 and being used for December 2016 trip (I don't know why we did it this way...now, unless we switch from Poly to Bay Lake if themepark view come available, we'll lose 2 points to oblivion). etc etc etc.

Eek! We recently had points put back into our account and all but 3 are bankable and I am trying to figure out how to not lose them. Every point is precious!

On the issue of keeping track of your points, I do very well tracking them on DVCmember.com and I keep detailed notes. I only have 1 UY and it is Feb so that makes it easier. My mind just does not grasp the spreadsheet concept.
