Hi. I read these boards every day. I will be taking my 5 year old daughter and myself in November of this year. Here are the things I have learned from this budget board: I will be using a collapsable cooler for our room at the All Star Movies. I will be stopping by the grocery store for snacks, etc. Our main meal will be at lunch and we will be more than likely be sharing a meal, cause she doesnt eat much and either do I. I will be taking a small backpack/cooler into the parks with water bottles, snacks and packets of kool-aid to add to the water. We will also be enjoying the free things of Disney World, i.e. riding up front of the monorail, seeing the fireworks and parades. Having my daughter enjoy the Kidcot stations, meeting the characters and getting autographs. Oh, I have also been putting my change at the end of the day into a coffeecan bank for the vacation, instead of renting dvd's i put the money into the bank as well. Do you think I have everything covered? Please add anything else that will help. Also, thanks to everyone that has put in their advice and experience that will help others enjoy their vacation just a little bit more!

Some budget items to buy from home to save money....

Cheapy disposable raincoats.....big lots under a buck, in the park 6 or 8 bucks each

Spray mister fan water bottles.....park cost just under 20, Wal Mart 6

Autograph books and big fat pens......way cheaper at home, Big lots under a buck each.

If your staying on property Chip and Dales campfire/movie.....great value for free!!!! My son loves it. Smore kit there is around 6 bucks and feeds a whole family and then some. We shared last time with a family from India....what fun seeing those boys have their first marshmellow....:)

If I think of more I will let you know

have fun!!!

Good idea, but it's been my experience that your shoulders/neck/back are gonna hurt pretty quickly unless you're Hulk Hogan or a professional backpacker. Snacks and packets of kool-aid wont be a problem but water bottles can get heavy. Just some advice :)

Chip and Dales campfire/movie? What is this? Where is this? sounds great, can you explain it further. Thanks for your help.

The movie / campfire is at Ft. Wilderness campground, but I think anyone can attend. Just take a boat from MK.

Rent a locker to put the backpack in!

Thanks. I didnt know about the campfire thing, that sounds great.
My backpack isnt big and it has a handle on the top in case i dont want it on my shoulders, shoud i still get a locker? I dont want to have to keep going back to a locker, are there lockers somewhat in the middle of the park or just up front? THanks again

Nah, lockers are only good for storing things you dont wanna lug around the parks, not as a pit stop every hour. I'd just try to pack as lightly as you can or switch off with someone every hour or two.

For water bottles the best buy in the parks are the "Water Bottle Straps" around $4.00 each but well worth it!! They have a cord that cinchs tight to most any water bottle neck and hangs near the top of your hip. It makes carrying a water bottle hands free and nearly effortless!! Even my picky Dd would use the strap!!

The camp fire with chip and dale at WL , was so much fun . Befor hand they do a sing along and then the camp fire then the movie . my son last year made it half way threw the movie and then wanted to leave . We got on the boat and headed back towards poly. We had the whloe boat to our self and got on right as the fireworks started ! Perfect timming :) and my son fall asleep . It was great fun and me and hubby actrully got a few mins to ourself in a romantic spot :) just wanted to share our experience .

BTW in the sing along they did a happy birthday song also . We plan on going agian this year and having them sicng happy birthday to my son . Maybe we will hit that boat at a good time agian :)
