So, we what we have planned is a 10am Ceremony at the wedding pavilion the we have a pre-reception from 11am to 12pm then the lunch reception begins at 12pm. It's going to be buffet style. Do you think that having hors D’oeuvres at the pre-reception is nessasary? thanks in advance

We orignially planned to serve appetizers at our cocktail hour (noon wedding, cocktail hour started at 1pm, reception at 2pm). We ended up just doing a single medium-sized fruit platter so that anyone who was absolutely starving could get a small bite to eat (and it also saved us some $$)!

We are getting married in March and having a custom wedding with approx. 100 guests. Our ceremony is at 5pm and our cocktail hour start at 6pm. To save some money we are having cheese trays and a veggies trays...

If you want to save money I think the platters are a great budget saver and they would tie in with your buffet theme. I personally think if one is having a pre-reception then one should serve some kind of appetizer/hors d'oevres whether they're passed appetizers or platters eitehr work.
