So many people wish they could do something. Here is what you CAN do----GIVE BLOOD. The LA/MS/AL blood supply has been hit hard. Many units are being transferred to the area to help victims, leaving the rest of the US in short supply... not to mention this will be a Holiday weekend, which traditionally demand large blood supplies as well.
For those who don't know, a unit of blood is only good for 45 days... and when a natural disaster the magnitude of this one happens, units must be pulled from all over (not even mentioning the supply that was lost in the storm and flood waters due to loss of electricity, contamination, and poor or little refrigeration)... leaving the rest of the nation at a loss. Remember blood will still desperately be needed in other parts of the country for cancer patients, sickle cell patients, other dire anemias, emergencies, and traumas. THIS COULD EFFECT YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW. What if your family member was involved in a tragic accident and there simply wasn't blood availabe to save their life?????
Call your local blood center, Red Cross, whatever. Give the gift of life. It isn't bad, it barely hurts and you will know that you saved someone else... plus you get treats and a t-shirt too!!!
Please I'm begging... if you can GIVE... encourage others to give. We need you!!!!!!
