Here is some information I found on the Disneyland Hotel, thought i would share with everyone else.

Disneyland Hotel

What to expect: This is the original Disney-affiliated hotel, opened in 1955 shortly after the debut of the Disneyland® park. Sparkling not only with pixie dust, but also from the results of an exquisite 2002 renovation, the gleaming hotel offers a place where families enjoy glammed-up nostalgia and a complete theme-park experience, where both public rooms and accommodations have been designed to extend the magic and fantasy of Disneyland® park. Service is with a smile, in what truly may be “the happiest place on earth.”

Amenity highlights: Children gravitate toward the Peter Pan-themed Never Land Pool, with its 100-foot waterslide, while adults usually prefer the adjacent Cove Pools. Nearby, the Lost Bar—with vaulted ceilings, tin roof, and wooden beams, caters to a casual crowd, while the Wine Cellar provides an intimate venue for enjoying fine California wines by the glass. Exquisite gardens, with scenic waterfalls and koi ponds, are in tune with the “kingdom’s” aura of enchantment. High-speed Internet access is available in all guest rooms as well as the Top Brass Bar, Lost Bar, Captain's Galley (pool area), concierge lounge, and business center.

Insider tip: The “pixie dust” ceiling borders in guestrooms are “charged” during the day by both natural and lamp light. Once the lights are out, and everyone’s tucked into bed, the ceiling edges come to life and twinkle pixie dust at those watching from below.

Property Amenities

Spreading the magic for more than 45 years, the 1955 Disneyland® Hotel is a true original and, after a complete renovation in 2002, it’s looking better than ever. Built shortly after the debut of the Disneyland® park, the 14-story hotel offers enough action to keep kids busy while cultivating a nostalgic attitude that grown-ups appreciate. The resort’s swimming pools include the popular Never Land Pool, which features a Peter Pan theme and a 100-foot-long waterslide, and the two quieter Cove Pools, which offer a private sandy beach, adjacent playground, and poolside volleyball.
The hotel also features a seasonal Fantasy Waters Show, where colorful fountains of water and light entertain watchers, accompanied by a soundtrack of Disney music. And kids can spy Disney characters at breakfast in Goofy’s Kitchen. In addition to the numerous dining outlets, there are gardens with waterfalls and calm ponds full of koi through which guests can wander. For more adventure, guests can hop on the Safari Adventure remote-controlled Jungle Cruises or visit the adjacent Downtown Disney® District. Finally, both self- and valet parking is offered, and turndown service is available on request, for an additional charge.

High-speed Internet access is available in all guest rooms as well as the Top Brass Bar, Lost Bar, Captain's Galley (pool area), concierge lounge, and business center.

Rooms

This hotel features 990 guestrooms in three high-rise towers. All rooms in this 1955 hotel were completely renovated in 2002, and feature decor that includes blond-wood furniture, framed prints of original Disney-character sketches, and other Disney memorabilia. Two-poster beds have curved headboards and space for storage underneath.
Guestrooms also offer cable TV with free Disney Channel and ESPN as well as dial-up Internet access. Additional amenities include mini-refrigerators and wall safes; some rooms also have step-out balconies. Guests can request Disney-character wake-up calls and free daily newspaper delivery. Best of all are the pixie-dust ceiling borders that glow in the dark.

Hope this helps poeple about questions on the disneyland hotel, I know it answered some of mine :)

Thanks for this info--We're staying there in October--looking forward to staying at the "original."

How did you book your stay? We're using Expedia, and I'm wondering if the daily surcharge was included, or if I'll be billed at the time of check-out. Also, did you use self-park? If so, do you still enter under the canopy in the front to drop off your luggage and check-in, and then go park your car?

Expedia does not charge you for the resort fee, it will be billed to you separately when you check out; $11.50 per day including tax.

They have sometimes allowed us to leave our car there for the time it takes us to check in. Other times when it was busy they made my father in law drop us off quickly, park and then join us. You can generally tell by how many cars are parked near the bell stand if that will be an option or not.
