Okay....we have only bought AP's once. We got them Aug. 07 and used them for that trip, Nov. 07, Jan. 08 and July 08. HOWEVER...............we will NOT being going to WDW that much anymore. Our dd starts college next fall so our 2-3 trips a year is about to cease. :rotfl: We did just go again this Nov. but we had 7 day Magic Your Ways from 2 years ago and we used 5 days on them. OKAY.....we have decided to take advantage of the 7/4 deal. We are staying for a week starting on Jan. 26th. Each of us (5 of us) will need park passes because we only have 2 days left on the Nov. passes. I booked two rooms at CSR so we are getting two 200 visa gift cards to go toward the upgrade. We are also getting 7 day base tickets per person. MY PLAN was to use our 2 day passes, then on day 3 use the new 7 day. On day 4 upgrade the new 7 day to DVC AP's but only after using them once so we get the FULL GATE PRICE.

THIS IS WHERE IT GETS DICEY. :lmao: We are probably going to be taking SUMMER only trips starting next July 09. When we go in the summer we go for longer than a week. Last year we did 14 nights ...probably more like 8-10 though from here on out. If I get the AP's in JAN. Then I am going to get 2 days use out of them and my AP clock starts ticking....which would be park days 4 and 5 as far as our trip plans go. We have other plans the rest of the time we are there in Jan. Then we would use them in July 09 too. THEN THEY WOULD EXPIRE BEFORE WE COULD GO BACK IN SUMMER 2010. Sure there is a slight possibility we would go before Jan. 2010 but doubtful because of college chick.

SO....can I do this???? Use the 7/4 deal but add no exp. If so when do I add no exp. Do I do it with the package now, wait til we use them. Does it matter??? THEN ...in JULY can I upgrade those left over days to AP's??? How does that work????? Would we get the full credit of the original 7 day base ticket plus no exp. ??? Can I even upgrade that ticket to an AP if we used 3 out of the 7 days?? What would we get credit for?? Anything or would sirens and alarms sound because I am BUCKING THE SYSTEM IN EVERY BAD WAY POSSIBLE????

I think the best use of the AP's for us is summer to summer. We can get two longer trips out of them. I am trying to do a cheap trip for Jan. This is the bonus bonus trip since Nov. was not supposed to happen either. I don't want to end up in the Disney poor house. :)

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.

If you are still with me :worship: Bless your Disney self.

We used to go two or three times a year. Then we decided that Disney was just getting too much money from us so we sold off two contracts. So now we only go once a year. Last year we were there the second week of June, this year we get there right after Memorial Day. We got two trips off the PAPs, lots of chances to hit Typhoon Lagoon. We never renew our PAPs because we won't be back to use them during the next 12 months after we expire.

If you only go once a year, try to work it like us. But if you go less than once a year, if you go at least 12-14 days, you still probably make out better with the AP.

yeah that is what I would do if I waited and got the AP's for summer to summer. I just don't know what to do for this Jan. trip.

I did get the PAP this past time for us but my dd and I decided that we were fine with just the AP becaues the water parks were okay. We would rather just hang at our resort pool and let the guys do the parks. SO we will probably just get the annual water parks passes for them.

I see a problem. Any upgrade must be done within 14 days from first use even if you have the No Exp. option. From what I read, you will use the tickets in Jan. and need to upgrade in Jan. and not able to in July.

AH HA. I do remember that. So that is out the window. SO I guess we just add the non exp. and use the 3 days and save the other days for the summer or we do the upgrade to AP's in Jan. OR we just have left over days left on these passes after we add non. exp. for a last minute BONUS TRIP AS I CALL THEM......somewhere down the line. I wish the park passes didn't cost so much.

Hello
I tried to understand all that you were asking.....
We went down a while back and still had 5 days left on our 10 day tickets.
We asked on the last night of our trip if we could make them non-expire....we were basically told that "sure...disney will gladly take your money". Now, the Cast Member was really nice about this and didn't mean any harm in what was said, but basically the idea was they would work with us.

I hope this helps you with any questions you may have had.

by the way, about 2 months after we added the non-expire, i called and traded those tickets in for PAP's, so again, they still worked with us.

So those same park passes that you had 5 days left on, you added the no exp. to them but this had to be within 14 days of using them right? Then 2 months after that you upgraded them?? Did you get the full value of the 10 day pass toward the PAP?? So that theory of having to do all upgrades within 14 day didn't apply then??? I am so confused. LOL I will join you popcorn::

Hello again :)

When we added the no expire, we also added the "extras", so we had those 10 "extras" available to us...even though we had 5 days left on the tickets, they had to charge us for the full 10 days. They may have had to do that with the no expire option too. When we upgraded 2 months later, they basically refunded me the price of the tickets value we had left on them, and i think we ended up paying a little more for the upgrade. I wish i could remember the numbers, but this happened back in May, and my memory is not that good when it comes to numbers.
I basically called (again, i can't remember if it was tickets or member services i called), told them the situation i was in, and they found the best situation that would work for us. Everyone i've spoken with regarding making plans and so forth have always assisted in finding the best possible (and inexpensive) solution for our needs. I'd hope they'd do the same thing for you too :)
Be sure to let us know how things work out for you :)

Yeah I think when you add on options it has to go for all the days on the tickets. For ex. IF we got 7 day tickets but used only 2 days on them. We would want to add the no exp. but could not just add it for the days left. It would be for the 7 days. Now....I wonder if they did that for you guys since you upgraded them only 2 months later. For us...it would be 6 months later. I don't know about that.
