This May my mom and I are driving.. I know starting to think I was high on pixie planning dust and did not think this through in a straight mind...lol

Anyways we took a small side trip this march to PA to go visit a TV Shopping Channel. We had to stop at what seemed a million toll booths and try to find the right change. Well after seeing signs for an EZ pass i went online and read up on how it works.
Pretty simple...you prepay with check or credit card and they send you this box that you attach to the inside or outside of your car depending on make/model and when you go through the toll plaza's it deducts that amount from your pass. No more trying to find the $$ and saves a little time.

I ordered my EZ pass on Wednesday of this week 4.14.04 and I had it Saturday 4.17.04. I had to get an exterior pass and it was easy to attach right to the license plate.

I live in CT but called up the NJ office because an aunt of mine went through them and had no complaints.

Thought I would share this for those who drive because a lot of the roads from NY/NJ/PA/DE/Maryland are tolls. I heard a rumor that FL has EZ pass so i am looking into that.

Any questions feel free to ask me or check www.ezpass.com.

Sorry for such a long post.

Amy

Will that work for all the tolls on 95? I have one for where I live in SW FL and it will only work on my 3 bridges & that is it. Also, do you have to pay a fee for it? Like ours is $40...plus what ever tolls you actually use. Second car discount is $20 + what ever tolls you use. I have family (I am originally from NY & moved here from CT) in NY that drive down at least 2 times a year...

I just looooove sailing throught the EZ pass lane, passing everyone else waiting with their coins out!:hyper:

A warning about the New Jersey EZ-Pass, I believe they charge a monthly $1.00 membership fee, plus $1.00 every other month to receive a statement. New York charges neither of these fees.

NJ does charge a those $1 fees but since I plan on only having it for the trip and then cancelling after i get back it will be worth it. If NY doesn't charge that fee then go with them. After reading the information from EZ pass the one i have will work on all the tolls in NY and NJ and DE and MD.

I will have change anyways since when i travel i always have a few small bills and change just in case but from what i read i should not need it.

In PA it's only $10 a year to get a transponder. And some of the tolls (in Delaware, and I think Jersey) are actually LESS if you have EZPass. I can't remember the details of how much less, but I remember seeing it on our trip down to DC.

Because I live in NJ, EZPass became almost a necessisity. I travel on the Garden State Parkway nearly every day, and being able to travel through the toll booths without having to dig for change is a huge timesaver.

Florida has a system called SunPass, and I'm not sure if it's compatible with EZPass or not. Does anyone know for sure?

I have an EZ-Pass which I use daily to commute to work.

We were able to use it on our trip from Pgh to WDW ~ We took I-79 to 19 to 77 to 26 then 95...We came across a few toll booths along the way and zipped right through.

I got my EZ-Pass years ago when they 1st came to PA, they were free for the 1st couple months if you enrolled online. Just pay attention when you order because there are several payment methods.....Mine is set to automatically refill the account with $45 from my checking acct everytime it gets down to $10.

Hi Amy!
thanks for the tip. I just wanted to say hello because I live in Lebanon, CT. We're neighbors:D

We have had Ezpass for a couple of years. and everytime the tolls back up...I just sing the I Love EZPass song...

We just used it to travel to NC....works great....

There was a column in Philadelphia magazine within the last few months about EZPass. It explained how when it was initiated, the transponder was free (from the Delaware River Port Authority) and you were given a 10% discount on the bridges from NJ to PA. Then they started the $1/month fee...then they did away with the 10% discount...then they talked about EZPass users paying more than cash toll payers.

The columnist suggested signing up for EZPass with the authority that runs the Delaware Memorial Bridge (there's no $1/month surcharge for the "privelege") and sending back the DRPA EZPass (the NJ Turnpike also charges $1/month).

The DE EZPass website is http://www.ezpassde.com/
