Hi all...I am here at Silver Lake...not a bad place at all!! I am in the "free!!!" computer room. You can stay on for 30 minutes. I have used up my time, but wanted to say "hi" anyone going to Silver Lake...you will like it. Can't beat the drive to the Disney Parks. I have 2 bedroom unit in blg 1800. Not the new section, but the unit is in excellent shape. :flower:

Hi mickeyfan :cool1:
I just found out I will be in 1800 next week.
I wonder which numbers face the pool? Did you ever find any photos of that building ? I would love to see some!
I won this on skyauction too. For 260.00 for the week I am sure it will be ok.
I am just excited  ARe these the units with all the mirrors? I know it is not the new 800/900 buildings, but they are not real old are they?

That is great, Sharon!! Thanks for checking in. :teeth: I think that is great that they give you some free time on the computer. Isn't that pretty rare for hotels?

Have a great vacation! And when you get back, give us all the details, OK? :wave2:

Hi Sharon
Thanks for popping in to say "hello" to us. Hope you have a great time. We'd love a report when you return :flower: Read somewhere else on the DIS that the parks have been really uncrowded. Have a Dole Whip for me ! :mickeybar

But I would still love to hear the a report :wave2:
That is OK, we are all that way sometimes (I am more that way most of the time :rotfl: ). The place is a decent place. There is nothing really super about it, but it is nice. The commute to Disney is one of the easiest ever (besides FairField's new Bonnet Creek). I had a 2 bedroom lockout. In one bedroom I had a king bed, dresser, TV, 2 night stands, mini cooking area (dishes, glasses, silverware, towels, pot holders, mini fridge, coffee pot...but nothing to cook in :confused3 ) small counter area & cabinet, there was a screened in patio with plastic table & 4 chairs. The A/C had a remote controll, there was a ceiling fan & yes there were mirrors behind the bed. There was nice size closet. The bath there was just a sink, tub/shower deal. I think that would be a "studio" if by itself. The other side of my unit had a full kitchen (full size appliances) and all utensils. Breakfast counter with 3 stools (I think 3), then a full size dining room (glass) table with 4 chairs (plus 2 more against the wall to add for 6 seating). There was sort of a great room effect, after the dining room table came the L/R area. There were 2 chairs, coffee table, pull out sofa, coffee table, end table & small entertainment center with TV & VCR. All the furniture was wicker. The one wall was mirror & made the unit seem larger. The bedroom on that side was very small. It had a king bed that took up most of the room, a dresser & 1 night stand. There was a decent size closet there too. There wan't much walking room execpt to get in/out of bed & get into dresser & closet. In between the bedroom & bath was a utility closet (A/C unit was in there) broom & mop. The bath on that side had a nice size jaccuzzi tub, seperate glassed in shower stall, nice sized stacking washer/dryer unit (full not mini stacking) toilet & nice size counter/cabinet sink area. The unit was all tile flooring, no carpets. There was also another patio area that you could get to from the B/R & L/R sliders. I was in the older section. I can't remember my room number but it was an A & B to it since we had a lockout & we did overlook the pool. I think I would have rather not overlooked the pool since it was loud at night. Some people could careless what time it was when swiming & no one stopped the noise. I didn't want to complain because it rained most of the time during the day & only time people could get in the pool was at night....late There aren't as many things to do there compared to other timeshares (say WestGate & Orange Lake). They have a decent size pool, kiddie pool & jaccuzzi. There were tennis courts & basketball courts, & I think shuffel board. There was a gameroom for the kids, workout room, computer room with internet access & printers  . You were allowed 30 mintues at a time in there. Kids under 16 or 18 (can't remember) had to be with an adult to use. There was a video rental machine, movie theater (small & we never went it...we prefered the computeres :teeth: ) & also an indoor golf putting area (there was a fee for that). There was also another area that had free washer & dryers for those in units without them. I would say most everything was near or in the tower bldgs (1800 & 1900). The grounds really aren't anything nice at all. They are suppose to be expanding, but there was no construction going on, just lots of dirt & weeds, broken fence etc... The back gate to Disney didn't work to get in the way it should. You were to put your room key in & the bar should go up...never did. You would have to push the call button, show the overhead camera your room key, say your name & room number then they would let you in. There is no guard in that guardhouse so you do all of this over that camera. The bar to get out did work except for the last 2 days there. It looked as if someone drove thru it... it was all taped off. When going to Disney, it was a pain to go out the front enterance area. I can tell you, when leaving the back gate, the road can be dangerous. There is sort of a bend just before the gate area. It is like a blind spot. You really can't see if someone is coming south on that road until they are nearly on the side of you. You have to pull out fast. Also the hallways were yuky..dirty yuky :confused3 The day we checked in there were cracker crumbs on the floor all over the hall, the maids were cleaning since it was a Sunday (larage turnover day). After they left, the crumbs were still there :confused3 , the hall was never vaccumed. I finally called to complain about that. The first night we were there, when we went out, came back at night, turned on the lights and we had some company.. roaches! I called them, they came the next day to bomb the unit. It took them all day to do it, we had to stay out of it for 8-10 hours, which really wasn't a problem. They said it would only be 3-4 hours. We went out, came back & the unit wasn't done yet so we had to go back out (that is why we had to stay out that long). After that, I didn't see anymore bugs :goodvibes , but the crumbs were still in the hall. That night (2nd night) I called them again & told them if they didn't clean the hall, the bugs would be back (or they are already in someone elses unit). I want to say the crumbs laid there for about 3 days... I mean large crumbs... all over the hall. It had looked as if someones garbage bag may have broken.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask. The staff there were very nice.... forgot to mention that.

I was fooled too by the date of this thread. :rotfl: Got me! ;)

But thanks for the report.

Wow...........could they not have moved you to another unit since they had to bomb the place? I don't know if I could have stayed there knowing roaches were there and then roach chemicals. :guilty:

I have heard so many good things about SL though.

Would you hesitate to stay there again?

Thanks for the report Sharon,
Sorry about those roaches/crumbs/grounds though ! By the halls being dirty do you mean they have internal halls ? I'm used to Vistana where you walk up the flight of stairs and there is your door----no hallways. I do realize the newer Lakes/Cascades have external (covered) hallways to get to the individual rooms---is this what you mean ?
Also, not sure I'd like the entire unit being tiled ? Maybe I'd have to see it.

Hope you got a couple good days with no rain. Hope you're enjoying the parks. :wizard: :sunny:

Yes, they have inside halls, the 2 tower bldgs (1800 & 1900) then the new sections ( I think they are like 800 & 700), the other older ones do not, they are 2 (or 3 can't remember) story with no elevators & you walk up to your unit. As far as the rain, I was there for 7 days then moved over to Pop for 6 more. I had a total of 4 days that were good, the rest it rained :umbrella: I just made the best of it, I live a few hours away so it isn't like I wouldn't be going back for a year.. I ended up back in July & should have been there Labor Day (but Katrina did a number with our gas). I will be at Pop next weekend.

Actually I did want to ask for a differen unit, but my husband didn't want to. We were all settled in & he didn't want to have to move. Once they bombed the place, we were ok. Living here in FL you do get use to all sorts of bugs, now had I seen a snake... I would have moved soooo fast :rotfl: We are always bombing our house for spiders, ants (red fire ants), we spray our lawn like once a week for fire ants.. so the thought of the chemical didn't bother me. Only one in our family that is sensitve to the smell is my son (he has asthama). When we do our house or yard, we make sure he isn't around. He wasn't with us on this trip so we didn't have to worry about his asthama (or we would have asked to be moved).

What a great report!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
We leave next Thru. I can not wait.
I know that we are in the 1800 building next to the pool, I hope we can overlook the pool, just so I can watch my kids while they play!!!
Thanks again.
