Interesting! Looks like a black&white e-paper display with NFC/RFID built in.

They say tapping the device to their totems will give you a return time. I wonder if the totem will transmit a time back to the device which will start a countdown, or if the park will have its own wireless standard for contacting your TapuTapu when its your turn: like the vibrating devices you get at restaurants.

Very cool.
