I think I've pretty much have our ADR's down. We have the DDE that we bought last year and it will be good for this trip also. Now the question is do we get the DDP or not? If you could please take a look at our ADR and tell me if you think the DDP would be a waste of money or not, I would greatly appreciate it!!! We are 2 adults and one child age 8.

4/29 - Mickey's Backyard BBQ

4/30 - Cape May for breakfast
'Ohana for dinner

5/01 - 50's Prime Time for dinner

5/02 - Olivia's Restaurant for breakfast
??? - not sure yet, may just do CS for dinner

5/03 - Chef Mickey's for breakfast
WCC for dinner

5/04 - eating in room for breakfast
1900 Park Fare for dinner

I know we are doing alot of character meals. We chose places that we hadn't been before not just because they were Character Meals (like Cape May and Chef Mickey's). Now we want 1900 Park Fare for dinner because of Cinderella and Friends, our DD would like this!

Tell me what you think...DDP or just use the DDE card! I know the DDP would be $434.85 total for 5 nights, but I'm not sure if we would be using more TS credits because of the Character Meals? :confused3

Looking at what you have I think if I were you it would be a decent deal, only you have 7TS credits worth of dining planned and I'm not sure if you have CS planned at all? The only thing I could tell you is that careful calculations show me that the backyard BBQ will be $103.02 (does the DDE apply to this?), 1900 park fair has a TS credit value of $89.59 with DDE you'll pay about $74.56 with tax and tip. Chef Mickey and Cape May are priced the same so the amounts would be $60.96 value on DDP and cost of $50.52 with DDE incl tax and tip. Go to allearsnet.com and check menu prices add 6.5% tax and 18% tip and you can compare apples to apples withthe DDE and DDP. If you do choose the DDP you could pay OOP for the BBQ and I think you'd still save $$.

Thanks patsal for taking the time to answer to my post! I really appreciate any advice I can get. It was really difficult to plan our ADR's and now to decide whether or not to get DDP. I think we'll just get the DDP and see if we save or not, then next time we'll know. Thanks again!

Do you currently have a discount on your accommodations? If so, you may lose that discount to get the Dining Plan. Just something to think about.

That is pretty much what I did--a last minute five night stay opportunity came up, we didn't have active AP's, but our DDE was still good. I booked a discounted package and added the DDP to it--heck at Christmas time I didn't want any surprises and an all inclusive sounded perfect. We ended up saving a significant amount with the plan. Much more than the DDE would save us for the same meals. However, the DDP is just the way we eat, so it worked out well. I'm on vacation so I'm not going to seek out the least expensive meal and add water to drink, that just isn't how we do it. We also stretched it using three CS's and sharing at most places as there was so much more food with CS than we were used to--we usually don't get dessert at CS we'd get a snack later on to hold us over until our TS time. As for the TS that is exactly how we eat--though we usually don't have 4 apps. on the table. We still ordered what we wanted--sometimes no dessert or app. and it worked out to a better savings than the DDE. We did use the DDE a few times to enjoy the discount on alcoholic beverages, and a few items from the ASMu food court at breakfast.

We are doing DVC this year as guests, but we do have AP's. On DVC boards I read that if you are staying DVC you can get on the DDP if you're stay is after 04/01/06. This is correct, right? Thanks for the tip though.
