That is so sad, I was just watching the Believe special on HBO last light (it was the story of the '80 Hockey Team). Prayers go out to his family.

I was sorry to hear about this. The 1980 victory was amazing.

Dan - they mentioned it on the radio this morning in an interview with someone from the State Patrol, that the seatbelt "could" have saved his life since there is plenty of "life space" in those vehicles.

They are, of course, going to do an autopsy to see what caused him to veer off the road. Could have been drowsiness, distraction, or serious medical situation....and could take several weeks for the results to come in.

Very sad time for family and friend.

I saw the breaking story on the local news last night and was shocked. It is so sad, he was such a good man. Then it became maddening, when I found out he had been thrown from the vehicle. They showed the van on the news, and had his seat belt been on (unless he had a heart attack or something before he left the road) he would surely have lived. I hate it when people die and it is totally preventable.

OK, I'm done now. It is still a very sad day.

When I saw the accident scene, I too imediately thought of a medical reason. It just didn't seem to have any other reason for the accident. The autopsy should tell something. I have a friend who dated him in high school.

He had such a huge impact on hockey, especially in Minnesota.
