Hello All! My boyfriend and I are planning a trip for sometime in the next year. I know I read a thread somewhere on the boards along the same lines of the question I have about tickets and discounts. I read somewhere that in order to qualify for any dinning plan you have to stay in a Disney resort hotel. I also read that you have to buy at least one ticket from Disney and should not purchase all of your park tickets from a a place that offers them at a cheaper price, but I can not for the life of me remember what the reason was? Anyone please HELPPPP!

To get the DDP you must have a package with onsite room and at least a one day ticket for everyone in the room.

For free dining you have to have at least a two day ticket for everyone.

If you already have tickets you can save the package tickets for future use. Just realize it you do use the tickets you already have, you can't get a package.

No real reason, just the way it works.

The only people that can buy the DDP without having to buy at least one day tickets for everyone in the room are people staying on DVC points, AP holders either paying rack rate or using an AP discount, and people using some of the military deals. Everyone else must buy at least one day tickets for everyone in the room. To get free dining, everyone (incuding AP holders) must pay rack rate for the room, buy at least two day park tickets for everyone in the room, and this year they must also buy a $99.00 Memory book.

If using anything besides rack rate or AP rate, even AP holders must buy one day park tickets for everyone in the room in order to buy the the DDP.

Regardless, in order to get the DDP, you must be staying at a Disney resort.
