I am interested in purchasing dvc points sufficient to secure a week stay at villas at grand Floridian. The max points needed for this is 1419. Do I buy these direct from Disney? How many do I need to purchase? I also like to stay at bay lake tower again at grand villas. How many do I need to buy at vgf? Can I buy at multiple places that are less expensive? Just need some guidance. Thank you very much

If you want a week at VGF and its 1419, then that is what you are going to need in terms of points for a yearly stay.

At this point, you'd need to probably go through Disney for at least some of it as finding that many points on the resale market, all in the same UY would be tough.

Now, you could also buy in at BLT, and then at 7 months out, try for the week at VGF.

You can only use points at other resorts 7 months out, even if you own at the resort you want to stay, so you can't buy SSR points and use them at VGF, just because you also own VGF, during home resort time. It is the points that have the booking advantage, not the owner.

If you do buy that many points. I would suggest you buy several smaller contracts, otherwise you may never be able to resale those points in the future.

There's so much you don't tell us that would help us to give you far better info such as time of year, usual party, past Disney experiences, travel frequency, etc. Since you're looking at a 3 BR during easter or Christmas time, you should know that just getting that reservation will be dicey at best. IF you must have that option, maybe you could buy a fixed week that fits your needs. You should compare to the Disney CRO suite prices and consider whether you'd be better off with smaller units such as two 2BR units or a 2 BR and smaller unit instead of a 3 BR. $250K up front and $10K for a week once a year would be unreasonable for most people and situations.

Unless you own both at GFV and BLT, it could be difficult booking a grand villa at both locations. It could be very hard to find a grand villa at a non-home resort at seven months out. If you know you always want a grand villa, the one you want should be at your home resort.
