I was wondering if any body could tell me what this saying means. Someone e- mailed it to me and i would like to know.

I asked God for water,
He gave me an ocean.
I asked God for a flower,
He gave me a garden.
I asked God for a tree,
He gave me a forest.
I asked God for a friend,
He gave me YOU.

HELP!!!!!!!!

Even though I'm totally anti-religion, I know alot about it. I'm going to a Jesuit university that makes you study theology, so I know alot about religion, and my studying of religion made me an unbeliever. Anyway, back on subject, if you disect the poem, it is in reference to the Old Testement of the Bible, where Adam asked for different things, he received them in great quantity. Then Adam wanted a companion, so God made Eve. The poem is a paraphrase of something Adam said to Eve when she was created. Man, that sounds smart. I gotta go out and do something stupid now.

oh! youre done? :o man, that was a nice nap:pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :pinkbounc :bounce: :pinkbounc :bounce: :pinkbounc :p :p :p :p

It means that when you ask for something simple, you get something greater in return. When this person asked for a friend he gave them you, who, in their opinion, is much more than a friend. I hope I helped.
