We are taking my mom with us in May. She will be celebrating her 51st b-day while we are there. This is her first time back to Disney in 15 years. I would like to take her out to dinner one night for her b-day. I am not sure if we want to do a dinner w/characters or just a nice dinner.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you were me, you would go to the California Grill. It is a non character meal, but it is your mom's first after 50 BD, and that deserves a really nice meal. You should get a seat where you can watch the MK fireworks. I have only had lunch there, but the food is fantastic (IMHO). I loved the goat cheese ravioli we had for an appetizer, but I don't know if it is on the menu or not, now.

How nice for you and your mother to be able to spend such a special time together at such a special place.

I've been dying to try the Chef's table at Wolfgang Puck's Upstair. I bet it would be a great B day dinner.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a waiting time I have to wait for to make PS's for the California Grille? Thanks again.

Your Mom might also enjoy the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. A stroll on the BW with all the old fashioned entertainers might be fun for her before or after dinner. The Flying Fish is upscale & gourmet. One of the best on property. ;)
If you really want to knock her socks off, go to Victoria & Albert's at the Grand Floridian. Jackets required for gentlemen & elegant attire for ladies. Fancy with a capitol "F"!
Enjoy! :D

I would definitely recommend the California Grill. Great food and a great view.
You might also want to consider either Chefs or Bistro in Epcot/France. We love Chefs and heard
a lot of great things about the Bistro (upstairs from Chef's). I understand that the Bistro is slow
paced and relaxing with very good food. The food at Chef's and the atmosphere are really good also.
