DH has given me free reign when it comes to booking our hotel on Universal property this summer. So, here's the problem...which hotel should I pick? I really like the decor of Royal Pacific but I do not know enough about any of the hotels. Any suggestions? In the mean time, I am going to go and check out the resort pic/info threads...

I personally prefer the RPR, I like the tropical theming, the pool area is great as its big and not hard to find a quite place if needed. Jakes bar is a welcome site after a long day at the parks and city walk. We sit outside by the waterfall, enjoy a cool beverage & go over our day and plan the next.

I have stayed at the HR, pool area is good, but to me the bright (whites)
colors of the hotel seem bland. But we do spend time at the pool and have lunch there, great times.

I have never stayed at the PBR, but have ate there and spent time at the pool. Its a warm atmosphere and atleast the times I have visited very quite.

You can walk to universal quicker than riding the boat from the HR.
RPR is about the same time walking or riding the boat.
PBR - there is a short cut from here not sure where though.

We've stayed at all three of the Universal resorts, but the only resort that we keep going back to is the Hard Rock. My kids love the pool, and it is so convenient to the parks. We liked RPR - it was an easy walk to the parks, but since the pool didn't have a slide, it wasn't a hit with the kids. My personal favorite hotel is the PBR. We loved the rooms, the restaurants, the pool, and the nightly entertainment. The only downside for us was the walk to the parks. We like to walk to the parks, I know you can take the boat - but every time we tried to take the boat, the lines were huge! So, we keep going back to the Hard Rock!

thank you all! i am leaning more towards RPH but my husband thinks that cheapest hotel at Universal is going to be comparable to staying at Pop at Disney. And I think that he would like to stay at Hard Rock but the look of it doesn't appeal to me but I DO LOVE music and the pics of the rock bands especially the Beatles! ;)

We stayed at RPR last month and we loved it! The grounds are tropical and pretty and the room, lobby, service etc were all very nice. In Oct, we stayed at the Contemporary, and I would say they are definitely on the same level. No comparison between RP and POP...not even close!

I think you'll be happy at any of them!

he will be happy to hear that! i told him as much but you know how that goes!

Our favorite is HR mainly for the pool and it just seems more upbeat which is right up our alley. Plus it is closest to the parks. The RP is still awesome and not even in the same category as POP. To us a better version of Polynisian.

Tricky 1. Thank you. That was an excellent summary and was quite helfpul to me since it confirmed for us that the best choice was HR. Waiting for transporiation is something that bugs me on theme park trips and we like to walk!

We love the Hard Rock. The vibe is perfect if you like Rock -n- Roll. The staff and memorabilia are great. Great pool area and so convenient to the parks. The rooms are big enough for the 3 of us and our dog. If you can get a Deluxe it only gets better. We have been many times and it never disappoints....

Not really much difference in the HRH and RPR with the parks, HRH is closest to Universal, but probably same distance to IOA as RPR is.
We always walk, and its 7 mins to Citywalk [Margaritaville] from RPR, and that is walking at quite a leisurely pace
