I am not sure if I should even post this, but for the last month or two I have been feeling like I am going to die. I don't know how this fear started but I feel like it is hampering my life. My fiance has been telling me that it is because of other reasons, the fear of being left behind, of isolation but to me it feels like I have the knowledge that soon I will die and it scares me everyday. I have been depressed lately. I don't know what to do. I would never post this but it is getting to the point where every morning I am surprised I woke up. I am scared, is this normal? I keep picturing my tombstone or me in a casket or my funeral and I am terrified. I wonder if I am doomed to die soon and I am scared.

As someone who is chronically anxious, sounds like generalized anxiety to me. You can be helped. Find a therapist, maybe take meds for awhile. There is so much doom and gloom all over the tv, plus we all seem to know people who are struggling. I wouldn't say it's normal for you to feel this anxious, but understandable, certainly.

Get some help. We all need it from time to time.

From the limited info you provided, you may be suffering from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and/or depression. Millions of people suffer from it. Those that don't really can't understand how much suffering it causes. You know you're sane but can have thoughts that make you feel completely irrational.

You should really talk to your primary care provider & also get a referral to a therapist that has experience with depression & anxiety disorders (the two are usually linked). Medications may help for the short term but they do have side effects as well. Therapy will help you learn different coping skills to deal with the anxiety. Remember, you can't control your first thoughts, but you can control the thoughts that follow it.

Don't be ashamed of how you feel & don't deny yourself treatment. You can feel better!

I agree. Call your general practitioner TODAY. Tell them you need an appointment ASAP. The doc will be able to rule out immediate life threats that might be making you feel this way (high BP, cardiac problems) and recommend a good therapist. Don't hold back on telling him/her how bad it is or how you're feeling! I'll say a prayer that you are feeling better soon... :goodvibes

No it is not normal. Go see your reg. doc right away and get a blood work up. You might have a thyroid condition for example.

Once your GP gives you an "all clear" then I would get on some anxiety meds.

There is help out there for you, you just have to go forth and do it.:goodvibes

Definitely get in to the doctor! I dismissed my anxiety/feelings of impending doom right up until landing in the ER in the midst of a full-blown panic attack. Once I went to my GP for follow-up he jumped my case for not getting in sooner. Therapy helps, there are anti-depressants that are also good for anxiety (I'm on Celexa), and anti-anxiety meds that can help you "bridge" the gap (I couldn't go to therapy right away because driving was one of my biggest panic triggers). I still have an issue pop up now and then, but overall I feel like a whole new person, and I really wish I had dealt with things sooner. Also, if there is a physical reason for your anxiety they can treat that - plus it may make you feel better just knowing that you have checked out healthy!

Good luck!

 Just wanted to give you a hug and hope you start feeling better soon.

Sounds to me like you may be having panic attacks. I have had those really bad in the past, but it's gotten a lot better. Call your doctor.
