Hi friends! Need some travel advice. DH and I are looking to go away for a long weekend this winter - probably Friday - Monday thing. Anyway, we need advice on where we should go!!! We would like to drive, but flying is not out of the question. If it is within 12 hours of here, we will drive.

We have been to (therefore don't need to go back right now):

Milwaukee
Chicago
Florida
Tahoe
San Fran
Kansas City
Des Moines
Fargo
Most of Minnesota
Indianapolis
Cincinnati (although, I would love to go back - but we will do that in warmer weather!!)

We would like somewhere new, but not so overwhelming that we can't see it in 2 days (like NYC is out of the question...). What do you think? I was kind of tossing around Branson or Black Hills, since both are within driving distance, but will it be too cold in S.D.? what about Branson? I mean, too cold as far as, would we be able to do anything???? I was also thinking, if airfare is REASONABLE (read: under $175 (ha ha, right?), we might do Phila., Savannah, or Biloxi.

thanks in advance!!

how about Las Vegas? You can get some great packages through Hobbit Travel or Transglobal vacations.

Fun for a long weekend, even if you don't gamble. We don't and had a great time just looking at everything.

I was also going to suggest Las Vegas. I also came up with some other ideas:

San Diego
Phoenix
Scottdale
Denver

Branson in dead of winter would not be a my first choice. The weather will be cold and ice storms are possible. Also many (not all) shows take vacation in Jan/Feb. We LOVE the Branson area, our boat lives on the lake full time, but it is so much nicer in the Spring/Summer/Fall. There is sooo much to do I would suggest going when the weather is better and giving yourslf more time.

Last year week really enjoyed a long weekend in Mexico. We stayed at an all inclusive resort on the Mayan Coast (Barcelo Maya). It was the most relaxing, romantic trip we have ever done. Try Fun Jet or Apple vacations.:teeth:
