Dilemma: 4 non vegetarians travelling with 2 committed vegetarians who will eat dairy and eggs, but no meat or fish.

Best table service????

Best counter service????

We want them to have a great dining experience and not be living on salad and french fries for a week!

All suggestions and hints welcome!

Thanks!

June

I am vegetarian and some of my favorites have been...

Boma - awesome buffet with lots for veggies and meat eaters!

50s Prime Time Cafe - I love the stuffed pepper dish - and of course there are plenty of meat options

For a nice meal, I always like California Grill

As for counter service - I'm not much help there...I usually eat salad and fries...lol and save myself for a big dinner!

There are vegan offerings on every menu. Not as many as it could be though. Morrocco sticks out in my head as a good one. Check allears.net for the menus.

We too are a vegetarian family:

Generally the buffets are great: Boma, Chef Mickey's breakfast, 1900 Park Fare and I'm looking forward to trying Crystal Palace on the next trip (tofu, vegetable lasagne, numerous veggie dishes). I am not a fan of having just one choice on the menu. Been a vegetarian for over 35yrs and things have come a long way in that time. No way is a salad or one entree a good dining experience for me anymore. The Plaza on Main Street has a veggie sandwich and the Strawberry salad can be made w/o Chicken.

Counter service: We liked our resort CS so I'd say keep that in mind, especially for breakfast. We ordered the platter (declined the meats) and were able to easily share a good meal. Main St Bakery has a Basil Mozzerella sandwich which is superb(great excuse to get those decadent desserts to complete the CS meal). Peco Bill's veggie burger was the worst meal of our trip; no need to ever return there. We could never get to Columbia Harbour House when it was open, but they feature a very popular veggie sandwich (hummus, veggies, etc.) and vegetarian Chili. The veggie soup at Cosmic Ray's may also be vegetarian. Morrocco in Epcot features some vegetarian dishes too. Beware of the Asian choices in Epcot, I think I read they don't use vegetable oil, so ask before ordering (us vegetarians are used to asking and reading labels).

Bottom line: we ate fantastic meals at Disney. No need to feel this will be difficult or a burden for planning.

Just booked our Free Dining trip today so I better get serious about our ADRs!

Boma, Crystal Palace, Kona Cafe are a few of my favorite TS

CS- Lotus Cafe and Wolfgang Puck Express

Everyone else has given good advice. The easiest meal for vegetarians is breakfast, and buffets are generally great for everyone (Boma is the best, IMO). Even a place like Biergarten worked well for me; I had plenty to eat and my omnivorous DH was VERY happy with his massive beers.

Counter service isn't too bad; these places have much less leeway to "vegetarianize" something, though. In Epcot, Tangierine Cafe and Sunshine Seasons have good choices for meals and of course there are snacks aplenty in World Showcase. In MK I like the Main Street Bakery and Columbia Harbour House. Rosie's in MGM has huge veggie burgers (they're soy, like Boca Burgers, which I'm not that fond of), and I would check the other CS places to see if there's anything that appeals to you. In Animal Kingdom, your CS choices are cheese pizza at Pizzafari and a veggie burger at Restaurantosaurus (and I think Restaurantosaurus fries are McDonald's--not vegetarian). Oh, and a fruit plate at Flame Tree, but I think it comes with yogurt--which may have gelatin. AK is very poor for vegetarians for CS. I would probably go to Tusker House or Rainforest Cafe or eat a light lunch and save room for Boma at dinner. Avoid Yak and Yeti--I have yet to see a vegetarian review it positively, either TS or CS.
