Hi everyone AGAIN...UG suggest not going to MK on Thurs Sept 29 but we are going to go on this day anyway...what does everyone feel about the suggested days the UG tells us to go and not to go?? I am not really concerned about EMH as of now don't really intend to use them too much seeing as though we don't have hoppers and that is ok with me. However as reading he suggests Thurs are good days for MK I think...I am confused. He put it as a 4 anyway. What about being there at open?? Is this really important?? HELP one confused Dis planner here...I need to plan our ps's around our parks so I need to do this ASAP!! :wizard: THANKS!!!

I think that is a great day to go. We went last September and looking at the itinerary we went on a thursday. It was not crowded at all last year and this year we are going to MNSSHP on friday so maybe a lot of people will be doing that and thursday it will be less crowded. hopefully because of the free dining this year it won't be packed but who knows. you will have fun anyway. you could always go early and then leave in the middle of the day to go poolside or nap and go back at night.

What was their reason?

I have done many things against the UGs suggestions and found that I picked the right parks for the right days. I think as long as you stay away from MK on Saturday, you will be just fine. :)

I disagreed with the UG about Thursday at MK and went regardless. My thought was that Thursday would be a quieter day at MK because it's between the two EMH days. I made the right choice. It was much quieter than it was last June in MK. I did the same thing with MGM going on a Monday between it's two EMH days.

I am unsure about his reason, it is not EMH morning or evening or even next morning so I don't know but I am going with my instincts on this one!! Besides we are at the Poly so if it gets too crowded we will just go to the monorail and go to the pool until evening!!

Thanks everyone!!

Something I read recently on the UG site said that the day of the week does not effect the lenghth of the lines as much as the time of year, the attraction itself, and the time of day. If you are smart about where you go when, you should have no trouble. Going early is ALWAYS a good idea. Follow the UG for tour plans or at least which attractions to do during the first hours, etc.

The 29th will be our last day in WDW. We'll probably spend the morning at WDW. Maybe we'll see you there!! ;)

Hi folks,

A "4" is the lowest rating of any day on the calendar so far, so I don't think crowds will be a particular problem.

As Lora notes, getting there early and having a touring plan is much more important than choosing the "right" day of the week. So, MOMOFMNM, as long as you've got a plan, you should be fine.

We tend not to recommend the Magic Kingdom on Thursdays because our guest surveys and wait time data show that it's more popular than other days of the week. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it may be that the Extra Magic Hour schedule isn't followed by as many people as one would think.

Hope this helps!

OMG I feel like I am talking to a star or something LEN!! I love love love your book and have read if front to back about 20 times... :goodvibes I think I have that compulsive UG disorder that the one type A person said she got after reading your book. Oh well, at least I feel educated. Hey btw, I see on your updated dates on the website the day is now a 4 actually days that were 1's are now 4's as well!! Did you do any research lately on the free dining package and how you think that will affect crowds?? It is a big topic around here. I am assuming attendance is up due to the 50TH but who knows...you are the researcher!!! ;)
