help with tickets?

I am debating on whether we can swing another trip this August. We went last August and had to return early due to hurricane weather. I know you are thinking why is she planning another August trip. I'm a teacher and I won't drive down at Christmas or March Break because of the unreliable weather and time constraints. I also figure Florida won't experience hurricanes like that two years in a row. Right??????? We flew last time but I really want to have my vehicle this time so we can visit relatives elsewhere in Florida. We found the crowds to be low in August too, although that may have been due to the hurricanes!
I found this board to be so helpful last time I am asking for your help again.
I have been looking at ticket prices and it has changed a lot in a year. I am thinking of the 7 day MYW with the park hopper option. I found we park hopped a bit last time. So here's my question. We have 1 day left on our tickets from last year and one option. I am hoping we can use just the option this time to do Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. Will the ticket still be valid despite using the option? I want to save the park day for next year when we go to meet up with UK relatives. The MYW tickets expire within 14 days and I don't really think we will need any other options besides the day at a water park.
Any help or advise would be appreciated. I am so hoping we can go again, we had a blast last time despite the weather.
