Hi,

DD and two GF's are going to Orlando over college winter break by themselves Sunday, Jan 8 for a week. This has got to be a budget trip.

The sunday to sunday airfare with Suncountry right now is $254.
Good price or wait?

Anyone flown on Suncoountyr recently? How are the planes? Are seats preassigned? Thanks, herc.

Hercamore---

It's tough to say. January is a slow time of year for FL. The way things are, $250 is probably a good deal. It's possible things can drop, but we both know it's like playing the stock market.

I know Sun Country has assigned seating...it's not like SWA. But I am not sure if you can pre-select your seats online at the time of purchase.

We both know "budget" and airfare from MSP don't go hand in hand. Have your girls considered ATA or Delta with stops? A lot of times those airlines will have sales with a stop in Chicago or Atlanta. Last year we got flights on Delta for $137 RT. Haven't seen that this year, but travel is up so demand is up and so are prices.

Anyhow, if the girls need budget and can be flexible, I'd watch rates on ATA and Delta and maybe even AirTran. With a stop, sometimes you can catch a break on the price.

The other thing they might want to do is try and leave on Sat. A lot of times the Sat. flights will be cheaper especially with a Sat. night stay.

Sun Country does not offer pre-assigned seating, but they do offer online check starting 24 hours before departure. You can select your seats then.

I would keep an eye on airtran.com (as well as Sun Country) They offer a non stop flight each way (as well as many connections thru Atlanta). Right now their price for those dates is around 255 pp, but they offer sales many times.

My personal opinion, wait a bit........

I am also in the same boat. Would like to leave MSP on 1/7 Fri. and return on 1/17 Mon. I will be traveling with a party of 5. I have set up my travelocity fare watcher and there are no real deals yet. Have all fingers crossed. I agree it is prudent to wait. The latest deal flights have return dates of late October or early Nov. I'll be on guard for the best deals too. good luck!!!

I'd set up the Orbitz Deal Detector as well. I personally have had problems with Travelocity informing me in a timely manner of sale. Last time I set up a Fare Watcher for MCO, I got the notification of the sale 2 days after the sale.

Orbitz has been a bit more reliable, but at the same time I think you need to stalk these airfare search engines on a daily basis because sometimes sales are only for 1 day or a part of a day.

Thanks for the responses.

I'll keep checking Delta's site. A good deal on Delta would be great!

DD doesn't care if the flight is nonstop. She loves flying.

I'll set up Orbitz. Travelocity fare watcher is a dud most of the time.
